Back in the day; one could make money 'for' <a href="https://tastingtraffic.net/tags/recycling" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>recycling</span></a>. The way it should be today IMHO!.. but that's another story..</p><p>🤪 One day at 12 years old, I was hanging out with friends and overheard one saying that a <a href="https://tastingtraffic.net/tags/parade" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>parade</span></a> is coming to town and they need kids to <a href="https://tastingtraffic.net/tags/sell_parade_programs" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>sell_parade_programs</span></a>? 📕 </p><p>Immediately my ears 👂 perked up since a <a href="https://tastingtraffic.net/tags/J_O_B" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>J_O_B</span></a> at my age was tough -considering I was <a href="https://tastingtraffic.net/tags/underage" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>underage</span></a> to <a href="https://tastingtraffic.net/tags/work" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>work</span></a> <a href="https://tastingtraffic.net/tags/officially" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>officially</span></a>.</p><p>Received further details of the parade and ended up at the program <a href="https://tastingtraffic.net/tags/distribution" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>distribution</span></a> center at 6 am. Literally a 100 kids <a href="https://tastingtraffic.net/tags/waiting_in_line" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>waiting_in_line</span></a> for <a href="https://tastingtraffic.net/tags/parade_programs" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>parade_programs</span></a> to sell.</p><p>My turn came next and they gave me 50 programs. I ask them, " <a href="https://tastingtraffic.net/tags/How" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>How</span></a> do we <a href="https://tastingtraffic.net/tags/sell" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>sell</span></a> these"? They said, "Just go outside and start selling them".<br><a href="https://tastingtraffic.net/tags/TRAINING_OVER" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>TRAINING_OVER</span></a> I guess.. I ask for <a href="https://tastingtraffic.net/tags/another" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>another</span></a> 50 programs. I had 100 programs clinched in my hands:)</p><p>We were to sell them at $0.25 cents a piece.</p><p>While myself and 30 other kids stood outside, programs firmly grasped in hand -looking at each other wondering <a href="https://tastingtraffic.net/tags/OK_WHAT_NOW" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>OK_WHAT_NOW</span></a>?.. Duh!</p><p>I stood and watched the other kids for a while.. I noticed the crowd all lined up waiting for the parade floats to PASS by.. Still watching the rest of the kids to see if I could pick up any pointers. <a href="https://tastingtraffic.net/tags/Wishful_thinking" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Wishful_thinking</span></a> on my part. chuckles.</p><p>But while watching I realized the other kids were selling the programs to the <a href="https://tastingtraffic.net/tags/BACK" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BACK</span></a> of the <a href="https://tastingtraffic.net/tags/Crowd" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Crowd</span></a>. I said to myself, "I'll <a href="https://tastingtraffic.net/tags/never" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>never</span></a> sell many programs that way!"</p><p>"I NEED TO <a href="https://tastingtraffic.net/tags/GET" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>GET</span></a> IN <a href="https://tastingtraffic.net/tags/FRONT" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FRONT</span></a> OF THE <a href="https://tastingtraffic.net/tags/CROWD" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>CROWD</span></a>!:)"</p><p>So with a few " <a href="https://tastingtraffic.net/tags/ex_squeeze_mez" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ex_squeeze_mez</span></a> " (excuse me:) I ended up at the front of the crowd!</p><p>" <a href="https://tastingtraffic.net/tags/PARADE_PROGRAMS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>PARADE_PROGRAMS</span></a> FOR <a href="https://tastingtraffic.net/tags/SALE" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>SALE</span></a>" I <a href="https://tastingtraffic.net/tags/SHOUTED" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>SHOUTED</span></a>! -at the top of my lungs.</p><p>Within 10 minutes I sold 100 programs. YEAH!</p><p>I RAN back to the warehouse for more programs (.. <a href="https://tastingtraffic.net/tags/rinse" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>rinse</span></a> and <a href="https://tastingtraffic.net/tags/repeat" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>repeat</span></a> ;)</p><p>200 this time. Sold them in 20 min flat! At the end of the day I had $120.00 in my pocket. Not bad daily pay for a 12 year old kid considering min wage was $1.20 or less -cant remember.</p><p>Next year at 13, I <a href="https://tastingtraffic.net/tags/CAME_BACK" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>CAME_BACK</span></a> with a <a href="https://tastingtraffic.net/tags/VENGEANCE" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>VENGEANCE</span></a>!</p><p>Arrived at the program <a href="https://tastingtraffic.net/tags/warehouse" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>warehouse</span></a> at 5am. They <a href="https://tastingtraffic.net/tags/remembered_me" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>remembered_me</span></a> from the amount of programs I sold the year prior..</p><p>This time I asked for 10 boxes!! 500 programs per box!! She let me have them to my surprise.</p><p><a href="https://tastingtraffic.net/tags/THE_PLAN" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>THE_PLAN</span></a>:</p><p>I decided I was going to hide these boxes in <a href="https://tastingtraffic.net/tags/bushes" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>bushes</span></a> along the way of the parade (which stretched a few miles) so I wouldn't need to keep <a href="https://tastingtraffic.net/tags/running_back" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>running_back</span></a> (aka <a href="https://tastingtraffic.net/tags/Time_Management" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Time_Management</span></a>) for more programs -which wasted most of my time to sell.</p><p>I located the boxes in <a href="https://tastingtraffic.net/tags/strategic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>strategic</span></a> places >> equally spaced >> where they would not be seen. (bushes;) along the 3 mile run of the parade.</p><p>While distributing the boxes the first thing I noticed was that the other kids where still selling programs to the BACK of the crowd..</p><p>I thought to myself.. Hmmm. <a href="https://tastingtraffic.net/tags/No_Competition" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>No_Competition</span></a>;)</p><p>As soon as I was able to get back to the parades starting line, I headed to the front of the crowd. </p><p>To <a href="https://tastingtraffic.net/tags/MY_SHOCK" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>MY_SHOCK</span></a>, standing in front of me.. <a href="https://tastingtraffic.net/tags/WAS_A_COP" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>WAS_A_COP</span></a>! Not only that BUT many Cops -- along the way. In fact, they were spread out every 300 feet, I think:(</p><p>...and wont allow ANYONE to stand outside past the curb.. Ummm THATS <a href="https://tastingtraffic.net/tags/ME" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ME</span></a> BTW!:(</p><p>What <a href="https://tastingtraffic.net/tags/TODO" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>TODO</span></a>?!!!</p><p>~Hmmm -NOW WHAT!? "OK," I said to myself. All I need to do is a little - <a href="https://tastingtraffic.net/tags/Dipping" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Dipping</span></a> and <a href="https://tastingtraffic.net/tags/Diving" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Diving</span></a>~. </p><p>And that's what I did! When I got within 50 feet of an " <a href="https://tastingtraffic.net/tags/officer" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>officer</span></a>" :) I would <a href="https://tastingtraffic.net/tags/dip" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>dip</span></a> back into the crowd, AND <a href="https://tastingtraffic.net/tags/dive" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>dive</span></a> back to the <a href="https://tastingtraffic.net/tags/FRONT" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FRONT</span></a> OF THE <a href="https://tastingtraffic.net/tags/CROWD" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>CROWD</span></a>. </p><p>Plus Hey, I was just a <a href="https://tastingtraffic.net/tags/kid" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>kid</span></a>. Many OFFICERS just ignored me.. or thought -- I was just <a href="https://tastingtraffic.net/tags/part" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>part</span></a> of the <a href="https://tastingtraffic.net/tags/parade" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>parade</span></a>;) ..</p><p>( <a href="https://tastingtraffic.net/tags/Face" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Face</span></a> the <a href="https://tastingtraffic.net/tags/Fear" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Fear</span></a> and the <a href="https://tastingtraffic.net/tags/Death" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Death</span></a> of Fear is <a href="https://tastingtraffic.net/tags/Certain" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Certain</span></a>!)</p><p>Sold all 10 boxes (5000 programs) made more money than most KIDS MY AGE have ever seen, especially my friends, -most likely -at that age -in that era.. perhaps..not sure.. chuckles</p><p>Food for thought. I didn't even realize that I was in the <a href="https://tastingtraffic.net/tags/advertising_business" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>advertising_business</span></a> at 12 years of age- and for many years to follow..</p><p>BUT!
