Although this doesn’t sound TERRIBLE, it doesn’t sound great either.
It’s certainly listenable, but until somebody issues this with the MTV source from the board, this is the best we’re gonna get. Which is too bad, because this was one of their greatest performances, with Scott in his total badass vocal prime.

Got to see these guys in concert years ago and they included an acoustic set, so lots of memories. Jeff sounds a lot like Scott. He did a great job on the vocals. So, hats off!

Related to the songwriting post above- I just realized the chorus of the song I just wrote was inspired by this song. This is from 120 Minutes on MTV many years ago - I still think about this song constantly. The hooks. Scott was a genius.

The good thing about growing up in a backwater was that I never knew that STP were maligned as “inauthentic”. So, I never had to pretend that this album isn’t fucking great.
If memory serves, I bought this from a mail-order catalog along with Pearl Jam’s Ten and Nirvana’s Nevermind. They were the first CDs I ever bought.
(Excluding Megadeth’s SFSGSW, which I got in a bargain bin and sold soon afterwards)

I'm 57 years old and have come to the conclusion that we never truly appreciate the decades we grew up in until we hit middle age.

I've been a big fan of Stone Temple Pilots since the early 90s -- I was 12 when their first record came out. And I loved how psychedelic they got with the next albums.
I saw them BRIEFLY years later at a free secret show on Miami Beach - my friend and I raced there last minute & caught maybe 4 songs. Still one of the greatest shows I've ever seen. BEYOND tight. Effortless.
These are my 24 favorite STP songs. They'd make a killer double album. 12 songs per disc.
