I've been talking about it for months, but I finally followed Jami Kettunen's instructions and got Chimera Linux installed in my Yoga Slim 7x ARM laptop.

Windows was crashing every few days (while unattended) with the error "The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error is caused because the system stopped responding and the hardware watchdog triggered a system reset." even after a full restore.

I'm hoping Linux is more stable.

Made some more progress with OpenBSD on the Yogo 7x this evening. Got it online using a USB Wi-Fi dongle and installed a few packages. Got into a X session and could use Firefox and Alacritty.

Couldn't work out how to get fvwm to scale with the DPI. Tried xrandr and Xresources to set the DPI. Seems at least one of them worked as Firefox scaled properly.

The sheen on the new laptop wore off a bit yesterday. I tried to set up a Linux VM and it's broken on these CPUs. It works on the Dev Kit 2023 with Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 CPU but not on this Elite X. My early review of this laptop is very positive (once you get through the gauntlet of Windows initial setup). The build quality is excellent, the OLED display is high-resolution and vibrant with deep blacks, battery life is excellent. It reported 8h remaining at a battery level of 64%. It runs cool and fan-free unless you use all cores (like building software). I was able to build Prince in WSL, so I'll be able to use this machine for work when travelling later in the year. #SnapdragonX #ARM
