InstagramPHD Farm on Instagram: "IMPORTANT NOTICE  The city and Park paving decided to limit/block access to my street starting May 12th with no official end date and therefore blocking access to PHD Farm at the busiest weeks of the season (the week before and after the long weekend).  I still have more than 10,000 plants that need to be sold and this puts my business at high financial risk. If you can come this week to get your plants I will try to add more and more plants as fast as I can, hoping to have everything out by the weekend. After the street will be closed since there is no safe way for me to continue the plant sale in the alley or in the backyard due to its function as a farm I will only be able to do curb pickup from that date something that will significantly reduce the sale capacity since most people want to select the plants themselves. Sorry for the inconvenience and I hope You will be able to shop and find all the plants you need for your growing season at PHD Farm #ShopLocal #SmallBusiness #urbanfarm #yeg #gaedening #plants"7 likes, 1 comments - phd_farm on May 8, 2025: "IMPORTANT NOTICE  The city and Park paving decided to limit/block access to my street starting May 12th with no official end date and therefore blocking access to PHD Farm at the busiest weeks of the season (the week before and after the long weekend).  I still have more than 10,000 plants that need to be sold and this puts my business at high financial risk. Curious about the economics of selling 3d prints. Clearly there are many people selling prints on Etsy and eBay. If I opened a b&m shop where customers could customize prints themselves with easy to use iPad kiosk apps, get the item printed right then and there, wait for the print in a chill space, or get notified via sms, is that appealing? Customers wouldn’t interact with the printers, just customize the designs. Prices would likely be competitive assuming the printers and prints have high success rate. I don’t think even the best consumer printers are for everyone, but for technically minded folks it’s gotten much easier. Would this idea be following in the footsteps of Kinkos and other now defunct 2d print shops? The internet mostly killed the need for paper printers. Physical goods have legit use cases that don’t go away.

Finally picked up *months* of orders that I placed at the queer bookshop down the street, Birdie Books. I thought they'd be a bit upset that I was planning orders and not picking them up, but no, they're happy I'm a customer!

Shopping there and buying from them is a much, *much* better experience than Amazon. Seriously. If you haven't, find your closest indie bookstore, you'll love it!

The books, all of which I'm excited to get to:

- HUMANKIND, Rutger Bregman
- SUNRISE ON THE REAPING, Suzanne Collins
- THE LAST AMERICAN ROAD TRIP, Sarah Kendzior
- PAPER DOLL, Dylan Mulvaney
- THE QUEER ALLIES BIBLE, NV Gay
- THE STONEWALL READER, anthology
- TRANSGENDER HISTORY, Susan Stryker

Canadians are now, due to misleading labeling used by American manufacturers, using apps on their phone that can scan a product's barcode and identify where it's from. If the product is identified as American, the app suggests Canadian alternatives. The apps currently available are: Maple Scan, Buy Canadian, Is This Canadian? and Shop Canadian.
