Much of Litchfield County, along with parts of Fairfield and Hartford counties, are now rated level two out of four in drought intensity.</p><p>"The rest of Connecticut remains in a moderate drought, level one out of four, as the entire state was one week ago. </p><p>"Just over 58% of the Northeast is in at least a moderate drought, an increase of nearly 2% compared to last week. Precipitation is down 4 to 6 inches, which is between 30% to 50% of what's expected for this time of year.</p><p>"The soil is dry, as are rivers, which has led to a severe drought classification in a small part of the state.
