At NV Access we are always interested in understanding the satisfaction of our NVDA users.
Plus we like to understand clearly what is important to you and also identify what we can do more effectively.
We encourage you to complete the NVDA Satisfaction Survey 2025 to assist us with improving the NVDA user experience. It is a short, three question survey, which is anonymous and does not require signing in.

Complete at: nvaccess.org/survey

Are you a developer looking to make a difference? NVDA is on GitHub with an enthusiastic community of people who report issues, test bugs & features & submit code to improve NVDA. Now is an exciting time to become involved in a not-for-profit. Use your skills to directly impact the lives of blind & vision impaired people around the world! Here's a quick demo on how to enable TTS on the Nintendo Switch 2 from the home screen. Hopefully these menus are the same across all devices, though I have no way to know that for certain.

Edit: For other blind Switch/Switch 2 owners, I started a WhatsApp group to discuss the accessibility of the console and it's games. DM if you'd like to join.

Here's another one for the #blind #hiveMind primarily, but feel free to chime in if you have a good idea.
For an upcoming video/stream, I am looking into video editing as a #screenReader user. I'd like to cover both #mac and #windows and am curious what solutions have worked well for people in the past.
Conditions are no mouse usage at all, app needs to be screenreader-compatible, ideally somewhat full-featured both for #audio and #video.
Be it #iMovie, #Clipchamp, #quicktime, #reaper, a dreaded #AI tool, tell me thy success stories, thy struggles and thy findings! :) #accessibility

A: "Hey I just noticed that on your website, feature X doesn't work"
B: "Oh really? Thanks for reporting we'll fix that"

a: "Hey I just noticed that on your website, feature X doesn't work for #screenreader users and hasn't for over a year"
B: "It's very important to us and is on our roadmap, thanks for reporting baii"

If you work in, or need, #accessibility you'll be intimately familiar with this frankly embarrassing situation. If you're a #developer, let this be your trigger to educate yourself on the doubtless extensive docs your UI toolkit of choice (yes, that includes #react and #html) maintains on accessibility so you don't have to send that response and make a human being feel like they don't belong to society, because there's a non-zero chance that's EXACTLY how someone might read such a dismissal. I woke up to three such emails today and I think I'm done with advocacy today before even starting my day. Shit's depressing as all fuck. How's your day? :)

My graphic designer wife is looking to learn more about the practical aspects of creating accessible PDFs.

Testing the document with the most common tools seems like the best way to evaluate said access.

#ScreenReader users, what do you use to read PDFs on your Mac or Windows machine? Does the app matter? #a11y

Hi,

I have a question about screen readers. I have a website and on it I have link. As part of the link's text, I've put in the FavIcons of the websites. They are just some visual fluff for a very simplistic website. Will they be ignored by screen readers? If not, is there a way to make them so?

I at least feel it would be less helpful if it said, "1 900 hotdog's logo, 1-900-HotDog," than just "1-900-HotDog." But that's just me asking.

Today on the IC_null docket:

- Is a #fedora actually awesome?
- How's debian do where #accessibility is concerned?
- Will we have time for #kaliLinux?

I discuss the installation experience, the first-time experience for these distros when using a #screenReader, and we answer the question: can you actually #justSwitchToLinux if you depend on assistive tech?

The fun starts at 3 PM EST, 9 PM CEST over at twitch.tv/IC_Null or youtube.com/@viewpointunseen #selfPromo #stream #foss #tech #blind

The weather's cloudy a lukewarm. Perfect for today's stream where I create a "yes, but no" resource for everyone who tells me to just switch to #linux :P
Nah but seriously we'll look at a number of first-time experiences (install, initial boot into the OS ec.) of various popular and less popular distros. I will comment on the #accessibility considerations primarily for #screenReader users and I'm sure other things'll come up. See you bright-eyed and bushy-tailed around 3 PM EST/8P BST/9pm CEST over at twitch.tv/ic_null or youtube.com/@blindlyCoding. My #peertube account is, unfortunately, not approved yet :) #selfPromo #tech #foss #selfHosting #homeLab #stream #ubuntu #debian #fedora #elementaryOs #kaliLinux #blind

I love this so much. It's pretty much a GUI for #tampermonkey, offering an easier way for #blind folks to find elements on a webpage and do things to them. Yes, you could do the same things directly by just writing JavaScript yourself. But this is much, much faster, and requires a bit less knowledge. It took me less than 30 seconds to turn all the story titles on fanfiction.net into headings. Labeling a button, or making other small changes would be just as fast. The typos and slightly incorrect English put me off at first; especially the word "blinds" for blind people felt weird and derogatory. apparently the author is from #Cameroon, though, so maybe that's standard there. stsolution2.org/WebAccessibilizer/ #a11y #accessibility #screenreader
