The point at the front is on the far left and the aft deck is on the right of the photo. The back is not quite there, but is behind a building (the fish auction). The cabin is white, but there are two large iron bulkheads on the boat that are painted bright red. One at the cabin and one at the back. The boat is white, with a red border along it. Above it is a beautiful blue sky with white clouds. On the quay on the left, four men are sitting together on a concrete edge of the building. The quay is otherwise empty. For #SchiffsSamstag here is Guanarteme, a bulk liquid carrier - oil, typically - as seen passing by in the port of Lisbon several years ago just before we ourselves departed for the evening.

We're looking across calm sea towards low land in the distance with some low hills behind and signs of buildings along the far shore. The main focus is on a ship just ahead of us, pointing to our right and angled slightly in towards us as if in the process of passing us or about to be passed by us. The vessel is a fairly small oil tanker with a long, low deck topped with pipes for the filling and emptying of liquids. The ship is yellow but in need of freshening up as there are heavy signs of rust particularly at the sharp, raised, angled prow. At the aft there is a high bridge structure in white which is gleaming as it's reflecting the low sun of the early evening. The bridge reflects attractively in the dark, rippled water. The sky is mostly clear blue with a few patches of light cloud and the colours emphasise the approach of the end of the day.

This Is A Black And White Seascape Photo In Landscape Format. The Lower Twenty-Five Per Cent Of The Frame Is Filled With A Body Of Still Dark Water. In The Far Left Are Three Old Cranes On The Waterfront With Their Booms Raised Skywards. To The Left Of Centre Is An Oblique View Of A Large Container Ship Underway And Heading Towards The Camera. The Ship, Like Most Merchant Ships, Has A Dark Hull And White Superstructure. Above Deck Are Multiple Stacked Shipping Containers, Mostly Of A Dark Tone But Some White. A Stream Of Black Smoke Rises Vertically In The Still Morning Air From The Funnel At The Stern. Two Tugs Are Just Visible, One By The Ships Starboard Bow And One At The Stern. The Ships Company Name Is In Large Bold White Letters On The Beam 'YANG MING'. To The Right Of Centre Is A Stern View Of Another Large Container Ship, Roughly The Same Size As The First, Again Under Way But In An Opposite Direction And About Twenty Or Thirty Metres To One Side Of The First. This Second Ship Has Its Decks Stacked With Shipping Containers, A Dark Hull, White Superstructure, A Little Less Dark Smoke From The Funnel And A Single Large Tug In View At The Stern. The Ships Name 'KOTA CAHAYA' Just Visible As Is The Port Of Registry - 'Singapore'. Above This Maritime Scene Is A Clear And Cloudless Sky.
The Location Is The Los Angeles Main Channel. The First Ship Inbound To The Container Terminal, The Second Outbound To The Pacific Ocean (2018).

Dana aus dem niederländischen Kampen verwandelte sich vor etlichen Jahren in eine Barkentine namens goldene Löwin.

Querformat, Farbe: Das Bild zeigt die "Golden Leeuw", ein großes, dreimastiges Segelschiff beim Auslaufen unter Motor aus einem Hafen. Im Hintergrund sind kleinere Segelboote und eine bewölkte Landschaft zu sehen. Der Blickwinkel ist von einem anderen Schiff aus, dessen Tauwerk im Vordergrund den Blick auf die "Golden Leeuw" teilweise verdeckt.

For #SchiffsSamstag here's Ruby Princess as we returned to her by tender boat after a day ashore in Mexico a couple of years ago when we'd been to visit Todos Santos. Ruby is a Grand-class ship and she's our favourite class of cruise ship.

A portrait view taken from a small boat on the ocean as it's approaching a cruise ship at anchor. The sea is dark, cold-looking, and rippled but fairly calm. The sky is a patchy mix of clear blue and puffy white clouds. The cruise ship is facing over our right shoulder as we're approaching from just to its starboard side in front. From this angle it appears taller than it is long or wide with a flared forward bow rising up, framed at its top by a covered section that forms a wraparound promenade deck. On the hull there is symmetrical blue artwork of a woman's head whose hair becomes waves flowing out in front of her face down the length of the ship. Above the prow we can see the ship's bridge jutting out to the left (the right side is obscured by the ship's forward section), a raised wide area of windows along its edge.

Es ist wieder einmal #SchiffsSamstag, und dieses Mal mit einem schönen kleinen Segler, der schwedischen Jagt ALVINA.
Jacht/Jagt bedeutet ursprünglich ein kleines, schnelles Schiff unterschiedlichen Typs. Der Begriff ist im Niederländischen seit dem 15. Jahrhundert belegt. Es gibt Handelsjachten, Postjachten, Reisejachten, usw. und auch "Spieljachten", Sport- und Vergnügungsjachten, also "Yachten" im heutigen Sinne.

Die ALVINA wurde 1903 als Lotsenboot gebaut und ist als Kutter getakelt.

Einmastiges Segelschiff mit schwarzem Rumpf unter vollen Segeln, türkisfarbenen See.

For #SchiffsSamstag this is the Norwegian ship, Artemis Angler, whose name might suggest some kind of fishing vessel but she's actually a seismic survey ship. This was taken last month as we were leaving Ålesund. Behind her is Arctic Pearl, another scientific ship but one converted to harvest scallops.

We're on a ship passing close to land so our viewpoint is from quite high up. It's a very overcast day with a thick, low blanket of white cloud covering up the tops of some distant, snowy-peaked hills and mountains. Nearer to us, across a short stretch of flat, grey, cold water and filling the width of the image there is a high strip of land, damp grass and thin trees covering a rocky surface with a few dozen houses of varying designs either singly or in small groups arranged roughly in four layers up the height of it. Docked alongside the land between us and it are two ships but one is almost entirely blocking the view of the other. It has a blue hull with white deck area, a raised helipad towards the front and a bridge area set just back from it and below the helipad with views forward under it. A spherical radar dish is mounted around midship. The ship behind has a higher bridge and because it's facing in the opposite direction, to the left, it almost looks like the bridge behind is part of the ship in front.
