@LillyHerself @kim_harding sometime in the early 2000's Heyerdahl grandson was part of the Tangaroa Expedition that recreated the Kon-Tiki experience (with some technical improvements). I remember how depressing it was to learn how difficult it was for them to replicate some things like finding the right trees (practically extinct) bring the log down an almost dry river bed and how they never saw the abundance of fish and other animals the Kon-Tiki reported...
