I often say that I don't "keep score" in friendships, but that's not strictly speaking true. It's also not what you think.
I do lightly keep a tally of how my friends show up for me, who goes out of their way for me, who I ask for help and lean on. Because I want to make sure that my friendships are equitable, at least over time, and that no one feels burnt out, exploited, or neglected. It's really important to me to be in two-way, healthy relationships.1/n
