Prusa3D<p>Brew Better with a 3D Printer: Exploring Coffee Prints</p><p>Coffee is a daily eye-opener for almost the entire planet, but for me, it walks the fine line between a hobby and obsession. Balu<p>And just like that my <a href="https://muenster.im/tags/Prusa" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Prusa</span></a> <a href="https://muenster.im/tags/MK4S" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>MK4S</span></a> was no more.</p><p><a href="https://muenster.im/tags/3dprinting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>3dprinting</span></a></p>
Dennis<p>Swapped filament to something else with a plastic spool and holy crap it moves so much more smoothly.</p><p>Now I’m wondering how many of my weird problems are simply the result of cardboard spools being too light or creating too much friction. <a href="https://social.lol/tags/Prusa" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Prusa</span></a> <a href="https://social.lol/tags/PrusaMk4S" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>PrusaMk4S</span></a> <a href="https://social.lol/tags/3DPrinting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>3DPrinting</span></a></p>
Dennis<p>It will be hilarious if this was the problem, because the A1 tool heads also have a problem where the screws loosen on the mount for the nozzle and you get bad bed probing as a result.</p><p>At least Bambu acknowledges this in their wiki though. <a href="https://social.lol/tags/Prusa" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Prusa</span></a> <a href="https://social.lol/tags/PrusaMk4S" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>PrusaMk4S</span></a> <a href="https://social.lol/tags/3DPrinting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>3DPrinting</span></a></p>
Dennis<p>All of the screws were somewhat loose. The top ones tightened, but the bottom ones feel like they’re just threaded into plastic and are just spinning.</p><p>Started a print and so far so good. <a href="https://social.lol/tags/Prusa" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Prusa</span></a> <a href="https://social.lol/tags/PrusaMk4S" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>PrusaMk4S</span></a> <a href="https://social.lol/tags/3DPrinting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>3DPrinting</span></a></p>
Dennis<p>Internet says... tighten the screws on the back of the toolhead, even if they're already tight.</p><p><a href="https://social.lol/tags/Prusa" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Prusa</span></a> says you can slightly loosen the fan screws because those are known to interfere with the load cell. But that requires taking the part fan off so I'll leave that as the second step. </p><p><a href="https://social.lol/tags/PrusaMk4S" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>PrusaMk4S</span></a> <a href="https://social.lol/tags/3DPrinting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>3DPrinting</span></a></p>
Dennis<p>At this point I have to unload and load filament every time or nozzle cleaning fails. This is not what I expected when I paid more than double.</p><p>Not sure if this is a PLA problem, a switching from PETG to PLA problem, or just a new problem. Printer homes fine without any filament loaded and works fine as long as it gets past the nozzle cleaning stage.</p><p>Yes the little silicone brush that many other printers have is a consumable but maybe that would have been a better idea. <a href="https://social.lol/tags/Prusa" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Prusa</span></a> <a href="https://social.lol/tags/PrusaMk4S" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>PrusaMk4S</span></a> <a href="https://social.lol/tags/3DPrinting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>3DPrinting</span></a></p>
Dennis<p>Bambu shill mode activate!</p><p>Neither one of my A1 series printers ever had this type of problem. I never have to babysit the filament spool to make sure the print starts properly. <a href="https://social.lol/tags/Prusa" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Prusa</span></a> <a href="https://social.lol/tags/PrusaMk4S" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>PrusaMk4S</span></a> <a href="https://social.lol/tags/3DPrinting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>3DPrinting</span></a></p>
Dennis<p>Now getting lots of errors. Nozzle cleaning error! Printer collision error! Z-homing error!</p><p>Unloading the filament allowed the printer to home fine. So again, too much resistance on the filament spool seems to be an issue.</p><p>Nozzle cleaning has failed repeatedly on the smooth sheet. It’s like it’s too squishy and the printer doesn’t know what to do with that. Working fine on the satin sheet. <a href="https://social.lol/tags/Prusa" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Prusa</span></a> <a href="https://social.lol/tags/PrusaMk4S" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>PrusaMk4S</span></a> <a href="https://social.lol/tags/3DPrinting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>3DPrinting</span></a></p>

Dennis<p>Bleh, I think it's too smart for its own good.</p><p>I had to put bearings on the spool holder because otherwise the printer would try to nozzle clean in mid-air, because there was too much resistance.</p><p>Now it's printing worstagons (hexagons) and about an hour ago triggered an improper filament feeding error. I'm guessing it was really the filament spool jerking around, which it didn't know what to do with. </p><p><a href="https://social.lol/tags/Prusa" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Prusa</span></a> <a href="https://social.lol/tags/PrusaMk4S" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>PrusaMk4S</span></a> <a href="https://social.lol/tags/3DPrinting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>3DPrinting</span></a></p>

Andy Warburton ❌❌❌<p>Upgraded my <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/3dprinted" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>3dprinted</span></a> 7-segment clock using translucent <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/prusa" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>prusa</span></a> PETG (previously using white PLA). Now it lets a LOT more light through which unfortunately means we have some hotspots where the LEDs are, but in person it looks kinda like a Nixie display! Definitely much clearer and easier to read. </p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/3dprinting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>3dprinting</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/prusament" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>prusament</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/electronics" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>electronics</span></a></p>
