On today's bike ride, I stopped at Lewis & Clark State Park. It's at the Sandy River Delta where it flows into the Columbia River. The Lewis & Clark expedition named the Sandy River because when they got there in 1805, it had been overrun a few years earlier by a mudflow from an eruption of Mt Hood. I was in a sea of people today at the main #HandsOff rally in Portland, Oregon! Here is a video of the march wrapping around the east entry ramp onto the Morrison Bridge. I’ve read an estimate of 3000 folks there today but I bet it was a lot more.

As usual Portland police are downplaying numbers as "several thousand". I'm hoping the organizers will release an accurate count. Based on other events I've witnessed I'd put the crowd size at 15-20k. I miss the days when we could get reporting from #PortlandIndymedia.

Democratic Rep Maxine Dexter at the protest in SE Portland today. Almost 900 people attended this morning's protest, and more than half joined the protest downtown.

“Hands Off” protests began in Tigard in Southeast Portland Saturday morning, with dozens more planned in Oregon, from Gold Beach to Astoria, to Hood River, Enterprise, Redmond and Klamath Falls.
