The latest #data demands are "absolutely alarming," & "reckless" & likely violate the #Privacy Act & other statutes, said Jon Davisson, senior counsel & director of litigation at the nonprofit Electronic Privacy Information Center. He & other advocates warn the data could be used to enable #deportation & mass #surveillance efforts & would do little to address improper payments.

"It is an unprecedented extension of the administration's campaign to consolidate #PersonalData," Davisson said.

In 2024, #SNAP served an average of 42M people each month, acc/to the #USDA, at a cost of $100B. Only some categories of lawfully present noncitizens are eligible to receive SNAP benefits, & those without legal status can never qualify. However, a noncitizen parent without legal status may apply for the assistance on behalf of their #children who are #UScitizens.

The geniuses at #FedEx decided that in order to delete my personal information I need to upload scans of the front & back of my ID. So, to delete my personal information I need to send them my personal information, and agree they can use it. No way.

They're also using a third party to collect it, so I would also be giving them the info. The US needs some proper data protection laws.
