@BrambleBearWhuffling So, this article does NOT recommend using store bought garlic to grow (though I've done it with organic garlic). The store-bought organic garlic did okay, but the bulbs were somewhat small. I do use the top greens in cooking, which are similar to onion tops, but with a hint of garlic. Imho, onions are easier to grow -- even a small bulb (or the onion top) are both very useful in the kitchen.
Has anyone successfully replanted green garlic from store and had it keep growing to become grown-ass adult garlic? Got some from coop yesterday, looks like scallions with purple strips, lots of thick roots still on. Stuck them in water to keep them fresh. Local so they probably have not been out of soil long. Will try with a couple just to see but wondering how likely...

The land offers abundant building materials, including clay, rock, sand, and gravel.
The upper level has two unfinished shipping container conversions. One serves as a studio with a reclaimed wood floor, earthen flooring, storage, and a wood stove. Adjacent is an unfinished cob kitchen and large earth oven with seating. Solar panels (700W) provide electricity. Outdoor features include a solar dehydrator, composting toilet, handmade juniper cabana, and terraces with mud sculptures. A spigot and screened area allow for outdoor showers. There's also a large unfinished cob table with a granite top.
A livable but unfinished cob and container hybrid tiny home offers a full outdoor kitchen with a double rocket stove, earth oven, and cob table with a granite top. The insulated home has bamboo floors, a tile walk-in closet, and an artistic cob entry. A root cellar dig is in progress, along with a circular cob smokehouse, a kiln with three rocket stoves, and a water-harvesting pond.

My particular interests include #TreePruning (think: fruit orchards, but also espaliers and bonsai when I'm feeling particularly spicy), figuring out how to grow a #Garden on a plot that is almost 100 % sand and gets little to no rain in the summer months, #BuildingSoil, and collecting interesting vegetable varieties (bonus points if they are black/purple or variegated).
I am a mix of about 50 % idealism and 50 % cynicism. The world is going to shit, but… that doesn't mean we can't try to have nice things while we watch the world burn.
Follow and connect if you want to exchange ideas, passions, seeds or just talk about STUFF. I speak German and English well enough to hold a conversation, other languages might need some more time to decipher.

Ich versteh es mal wieder nicht, warum diese nicht breit ausgerollt wird.
Ist wahrscheinlich wieder zu einfach, zu (doppelt) nützlich und kann keine großindustriellen Ineteressen bedienen.
