Photorat<p><a href="https://photog.social/tags/OpenWrt" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>OpenWrt</span></a> has this user-hostile blocker installed on their website.</p><p>The alert says that they're running Anubis, which is designed to block AI scrapers. Because I'm running JShelter to protect my privacy, Anubis can't run.</p><p>I agree with their desire to block AI scrapers, but user-hostile content blockers aren't the way to go. The web is way too enshittified already. Don't add to it.</p>

LineaageOS also worth a look for old phones/tablets.</p>

The router is in the basement and the front ground floor area of the house has a pretty weak signal.</p><p>I'm considering updating to a GliNet MT6000 running <a href="https://genomic.social/tags/OpenWRT" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>OpenWRT</span></a> in the basement and an AXT1800 running it upstairs with ethernet backhaul.</p><p>That should overkill the problem. Then again, most of the network works OK. Is it worth the cost and technical debt of translating current settings on ddwrt to a new firmware.</p>

It's stable and redirects traffic for DNS to our local pihole.</p><p>But it's also a little weak at the edges. Literally the furthest places from the router (in the basement) have weak signal and drop sometimes. A mesh might fix it. </p><p>But I really prefer non-factory firmwares. I've found them more stable than factory for almost 20 years. Which means openwrt or the like.</p>
