You can even play/contribute via affordable <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/OpenWrt" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#OpenWrt</a> + <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/Realtek" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#Realtek</a> switches. Because I'm running JShelter to protect my privacy, Anubis can't run.I agree with their desire to block AI scrapers, but user-hostile content blockers aren't the way to go. The web is way too enshittified already. Don't add to it.

LineaageOS also worth a look for old phones/tablets.

The router is in the basement and the front ground floor area of the house has a pretty weak signal.I'm considering updating to a GliNet MT6000 running <a href="https://genomic.social/tags/OpenWRT" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#OpenWRT</a> in the basement and an AXT1800 running it upstairs with ethernet backhaul.That should overkill the problem. Then again, most of the network works OK. Is it worth the cost and technical debt of translating current settings on ddwrt to a new firmware.

It's stable and redirects traffic for DNS to our local pihole.But it's also a little weak at the edges. Literally the furthest places from the router (in the basement) have weak signal and drop sometimes. A mesh might fix it. But I really prefer non-factory firmwares. I've found them more stable than factory for almost 20 years. Which means openwrt or the like.
