Last week we visited the monument that honors LATIN AMERICAN WORKERS
who helped rebuild New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. It’s important to remember that immigrants contribute to our communities in many ways, including their labor. I guarantee you nobody was was checking documentation back then. We needed help and we were fortunate to get it.

"‘Deeply hypocritical’: Pierre Poilievre slammed ‘illegal border crossers,’ but his own relative crossed and stayed.

Anaida Poilievre’s uncle lived undocumented in Canada and received help from her and an MP. The Conservative leader has said such individuals should be ‘tracked down’ and ‘deported’."

“Poilievre has vilified migrants, blaming them for the housing and affordability crisis, and says he plans to ‘track down’ and deport undocumented people even though his wife, who is a public figure heavily involved in his campaign, supported the regularization of her uncle. Why does Poilievre think other families don’t deserve the same rights as his own? All families deserve to be together, and every refugee, migrant and undocumented person should have permanent resident status in order to access equal rights."

"We can always tell" used to be a form of hate speech against a tiny group of marginalized people, indicating that they can tell if you are "a boy or a girl".

Now the same hateful ideology has expanded to cover large swaths of the American population, indicating that "they can always tell" who's an "illegal" by the way they look, leading to Indigenous First Nations people being deported from their homeland as Mexican immigrants, and tattoo artists being labeled as gang members, and therefore "terrorists", for their skin art.

This expansion of hateful ideology of course, should come as no surprise to anyone. That is why you cannot allow hate to live, no matter if it affects you or not. Soon enough, it'll hit your friends, your family, and yourself.
