Only 3 teams in #NHL history have won the Presidents Trophy and then missed the playoffs. The Rangers are about to do it twice.

Most disappointing sports season of my life & I’m a NY Jets fan.

–Won the Presidents
–Won 2 playoff rounds 8-2
–Only lost to a Florida juggernaut w/ a red hot goalie that eventually won the cup
–Did not lose a single important piece in the offseason and even filled a couple holes
–Had the best record in hockey in mid November

And then missed the playoffs. #NYR

This is wild:

*Trouba didn't want to be traded because his wife is doing her residency at a teaching hospital in NYC and wouldn't waive his no-trade clause this summer because of that

*the Rangers told him (earlier this week I guess) "we will scratch you if you don't accept a trade" and then "we will waive you if you don't accept a trade"

*the Rangers already did the waiver thing to someone else (Barclay Goodrow) recently with with a no-trade clause (this is NOT the same as a no movement clause which would prevent waivers and transfer to the AHL)

I'm not a fan of him as a player (nor do I like Verbeek's direction for the Ducks), but he seems like a decent person and this was a really nasty thing the Rangers did. His wife finishes July of 2025! You could have waited out the season! Sucks to suck for you, but you signed him to the damn contract in the first place.
