Bill Minarik<p>Sorena Sorensen passed away this month.</p><p>Sorena was a long-time curator at the National Museum of Natural History of the Smithsonian Institution. She was also an insightful and talented researcher who studied the role of fluids in metamorphism of subduction-related rocks. She also contributed to understanding the formation of jadeite and jade deposits.</p><p>News from Elizabeth Cottrell, also at <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/NMNH" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>NMNH</span></a> </p><p><a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/Geology" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Geology</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/Petrology" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Petrology</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/Subduction" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Subduction</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/Smithsonian" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Smithsonian</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/Mineralogy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Mineralogy</span></a></p>
