Neurofrontiers<p>Hi there, Fediverse! I'm trying to delve a bit deeper into the role of mirror neurons in empathy and I was wondering if someone has any recent references/insights. From my study days, I know of Frans de Waal's perception-action model and also of Gregory Hickok's criticism, but was wondering if there's anything more recent or some source that discusses the two together. Thanks in advance!</p><p><a href="https://neuromatch.social/tags/neuroscience" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>neuroscience</span></a> <a href="https://neuromatch.social/tags/empathy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>empathy</span></a> <a href="https://neuromatch.social/tags/MirrorNeurons" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>MirrorNeurons</span></a></p>

NinaMalSto<p>When we see people who are suffering, our <a href="https://mas.to/tags/brains" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>brains</span></a> feel their pain because as Christian Keysers said, <a href="https://mas.to/tags/mirrorneurons" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>mirrorneurons</span></a> are the key to our ability to understand other people.” However, sometimes we feel too much, and our <a href="https://mas.to/tags/empathic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>empathic</span></a> abilities can overwhelm us. Empathy requires delicacy. Too much empathy can lead to emotional exhaustion, while too little can result in a lack of understanding and feeling for others. <a href="https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/emotional-freedom/202206/how-the-brains-mirror-neurons-affect-empathy?amp" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">psychologytoday.com/us/blog/em</span><span class="invisible">otional-freedom/202206/how-the-brains-mirror-neurons-affect-empathy?amp</span></a></p>
