It's David Wright day at Citifield. They retired his number (5) and hung it up in the stadium next to all of the other retired numbers.

He had to retire early due to a Spinal Stenosis diagnosis. That was a sad day for Mets fans. I wish he had gotten to finish out his career the normal way, but it was not to be.

I miss seeing him play.

"It just didn't happen today with him."

Give me a break! Mendoza, are you some random, powerless dude who can't do a thing while Carrillo blows the game?

When did you know it wasn't happening? Not after the first homer? Not after the second homer? Was the third homer what made you think that maybe it "wasn't happening"?

Sheesh.

"With a 2-1 lead in the fifth inning, the Mets turned to Alex Carrillo, and things went off the rails.

The Mets asked Carrillo, formerly of independent baseball, to pitch two solid innings, and he couldn’t do it. He faced 10 batters and retired just four . . . he gave up two home runs and a pair of walks and hit a batter. . . .

“I needed to cover five innings there,” Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said. “We are giving these guys a look here, and it just didn’t happen today with him.”"

Prior to last night, I struggle to recall the last time a baseball All Star Game was actually competitive and super fun. But with the ABS usage, mini HR derby ending, and actual contributions from all #Mets participants, it kinda kicked ass?

(That I was also watching on mute whilst listening to the Philly #Phish show didn’t hurt. 40 min Sand >>>>>>>> John Smoltz)

Pete Alonso homered in the bottom of the 6th. Fernando Tatis, Jr. and Brendan Donovan scored. The National League leads the American League, 5-0. #Mets
