One thing I observed when I rolled back versions on my T1000-E, 1.7.0 SNR seems pretty good in both directions, while on 1.7.2, IF I could get a response, SNR to the repeater was significantly worse, but coming back from the repeater was fine.

Not sure if this is related, but definitely a notable observation.

I might spend some time jumping around versions to put together some thoughts to share on the github issue.

There's also a test firmware there to try.

Meshcore 1.7.0 has been completely stable on my T1000-E nodes, including testing at a small distance (just blocks away). So that issue isn't a 1.7.x issue, it's a 1.7.1 issue that persisted into 1.7.2.

I'm going to bring my solar node down to 1.7.0 for now since my T1000s can't talk to it reliably.

There is an issue open on github, though I'm a little confused about the potential fix (BLE timeouts?). We shall see what 1.7.3 brings.

I’m going to Arctangent festival later this year and there is no cell signal so I’m taking these three Heltecs and giving two of them to close friends so I can find them at the festival!

I’m going to be running Meschore on all three (my experience of Meshtastic is it sucks all of the air out of the room and good luck sending a message to any of those contacts you found).

So if anyone else is going and wants to hop on the same mesh, this is your heads up!

#Meshtastic, #Meshcore... There is a more mature system, #APRS . Could it be more valuable as an emergency messaging system? You need a permit to use it, but it shouldn't be to difficult to get one. I wonder, perhaps Meshtastic is nice to get your feet wet, before switching to the real thing.

It's all relatively new to me. There is a lot to learn.

Glances at lora mesh network chats rooms for a millisecond . . .

How do we get meshtastic devs to stfu and stop being absolute tools, oh right just stop using their insecure pile of shit. They are the radio nerd version of SCO for the xennial generation.

Was able to connect on Bluetooth from iOS once I unplugged the device from the usb on my Mac and just plugged it in a USB charger

It looks like a great app. Much simpler to use than #Meshtastic.

However right now.. I’m alone in the north of Toronto. Chicken egg problem. Nobody to talk to

First experiment with #meshcore tonight, I flashed my #heltec v3 with the firmware at this URL and chose "Companion radio Bluetooth":
flasher.meshcore.co.uk/

For some reason, I can't connect on bluetooth with my iOS device (the device shows up but it just says waiting for device to connect after I click) , however was able to connect on bluetooth from a Chrome browser using this URL:

#MutualAidRequest I'd like to build a dozen of these LoRa radios to teach people and write a complete review of meshcore in Seattle.

It'd be nice to be able give away a few to people who can't afford to buy the parts themselves.

$45 / $600

So feel free to throw a few bucks at me so I can scale up my LoRa expirements.

I think the best thing about the home made nodes I've been using is that it's durable enough to carry almost daily. But flexible enough that I can do tons of experiments with external antennas and temporary installations in client mode or repeater.

The big one especially has crazy battery life and can run all week.

The other thing that rocks about this build is that it can be assembled with no soldering so its about as noob friendly as DIY hardware gets.

Some results from a week of there being a meshcore repeater on Cougar mountain.

A lot of us can now hear around 80 radios throughout the Seattle / Tacoma region.

The public chat channel is extremely busy at various times throughout the day.

I've been able to DM people in Tacoma and connect to their chat servers all the way from Seattle.

Some routes are extremely stable, meanwhile others are more flaky. It's super exciting!

Who else is using #meshcore? Having too much fun building repeaters but trying to help build out features as well.

Not so sure about the tdeck pro, I will eventually get something going but it's going to be a while custom UI etc.
