Andy
I’ve randomly bought these on eBay.

They are Feuerhand Model 275 Baby Lanterns. They just caught my eye and think they look gorgeous.

Can’t wait to get hold of them to see if I can date them. The glass says ‘Made in W. Germany’ so sometime after 1949.

Three things have come to mind with them:

1. Sympathetic restoration i.e. a bit of a tidy up.
2. Full restoration including a respray.
3. Wire in an LED bulb to combine old with new.

Who knows?!

#MakersHour #restoration #tinkering #fettling

Maybe the most famous in a very limited way is Paul Beech from Pimoroni, someone told me who it was I was explaining a basic electronic circuit debug to after and I felt a bit embarrassed about that! 😂

I dunno if Dr Karl** in Australia counts... perhaps he "thinks" rather than "makes", but there is a similar vibe. But that's cheating too as I used to walk past his office in the physics building regularly anyway, he was part of the furniture.

Anyone I particularly want to meet? Prior to that, I had built a six wheel drive, Land Rover based 3:4 scale version of a Scammell lorry, and I exhibited that at a few car shows back in the 1980s. That’s it, really. I am not much of one for doing exhibitions, but I can be tempted to exhibit a ‘phut machine’ AKA a stationary engine at a steam rally.

Edit: I completely forgot. I have exhibited my furniture making at Townley Hall in Burnley and also the Chinese Cultural Centre in Manchester. Also, I have exhibited my work with Incredible Edible Salford at the RHS garden show at Tatton Park.

#MakersHour
@makershour@a.gup.pe
