Devlin Leathercraft<p>I made three different playing card cases to see if I could figure out the patterns, without having them, and to see for myself what they would look like. The first was easy enough to make but needlessly fussy. The second is the simplest and least time consuming. The third is most traditional but I think I like it best. <a href="https://handmade.social/tags/LeatherCraft" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>LeatherCraft</span></a> <a href="https://handmade.social/tags/DIY" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>DIY</span></a> <a href="https://handmade.social/tags/maker" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>maker</span></a> <a href="https://handmade.social/tags/leather" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>leather</span></a></p>

@thejikz I was thinking about you when working in my studio today. If you're interested in leathercrafting, you should approach it without fear. Every mistake you make, teaches you about the material & process. If you see a good bargain on good leather, buy it, even if it's not something you like. Work with it. Keep going. The more you do, the more you learn and even your bad projects aren't failures; they are lessons. #LeatherCrafting #DIY #maker

Also, womit fange ich an? 🤔

🧶🧶🧶 Ye Olde Stack 'O Swatches. Amazing how each one holds a memory. And, can see how my swatching in particular and knitting in general have improved.

Reflecting - This art/craft of ours is blessedly diverse. Some days I want to knit all the things. Other days it's sorting scraps, a match for the spoons I have.

I feel so blessed to have the chance to begin again with fiber arts. <gratitude>

We've got many leathercraft books and I'm sure there's something in Al Stohlman's case series that has a playing card case. It's all been done before. The trick is finding what works for you. We get inspiration from books, the web and projects we've done before. I expect you to run with some of my ideas as I glean from others before me. This is what community is all about. #LeatherCraft #design #maker

The saga of my 3D printed stool continues... The under-seat brackets keep breaking in the exact same spot; I believe a re-design is required but I can't think of a way of attaching them which will absorb the force without snapping 🤔 perhaps a single screw on a wing towards the center instead of two pointing sideways...?

I can still sit on it, structural integrity remains surprisingly good even with partially broken brackets 😝

This is a large scalemail pauldron. It hangs off one shoulder while wrapping under the opposite arm for support. It is composed of anodized aluminum scales, starting with uncolored scales with black trim at the top, then changing to fully black scales partway down. The scales are attached to a strip of chainmail which holds the piece to the body. #chainmail #chainmaille #scalemail #armor #maker #crafts #aluminum #pauldron #shoulder
