People who are profoundly ignorant and have malicious agendas to manipulate and control us should not be given positions of power in our fragile and waning democracy.
And we have an obligation to ourselves to be saner and better informed.
P.S. Trans people were always here in the past, too, and are not a sudden new thing. We just didn't have language and concepts to talk about this natural aspect of gender identity before now.
It's not a new and sudden epidemic. It has been there all along, just like Alzheimer's, for which we had no name until fairly recently.
But not having a name for it does not mean it was not there.
It's not being caused by vaccines, for God's sake, or flouridated water, or seed oils or fill in the blank.
As Amelia Mavis Christnot notes, RFKJr and MAGA want to create a non-existent autism epidemic because 1) keeping people misinformed and frightened makes them more susceptible to manipulation and 2) distrust of vaccines and science, period, increasingly energizes MAGA.
