JillI learned about this method in art class at a community college 25 years ago. The professor told us about Chuck Close and his enormous hyper realistic portraits. Apparently, he would split up a photo into a grid of squares and then concentrate solely on drawing what was in each square.His 1968 Big Self-Portait is at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis. JillBest last minute invite ever!Friends invited me to see the "Fun Home" musical down in Minneapolis with them today. I laughed and cried. There was live music, too, seated BEHIND the racks of stuff on stage. It is based on the graphic novel by Alison Bechdel about growing up in a funeral home, coming out as gay, and her relationship with her parents, especially her dad.The crowd was filled! This woodcut he titled, Prairie Flowers (46/200), part of a Rourke Art Museum traveling exhibit (Collection of Timothy Murphy, 1951-2018). I posted this because the rains are here, and the landscape is quickly greening.
