I got my #MMR vaccine today. The hotel where I am living until the repairs are complete on my apartment building has 400 units and people from all over the US. I had mumps and rubella - but no immunity for #measles.
I asked about a #covid booster - I usually get them every six months and am a little overdue. The pharmacist told me that their vaccines had all been sent back as outdated and they had no idea when or if they would get an updated version.
@luckytran given this situation, I think it's reasonable to request @RKI and @AuswaertigesAmt to change entry requirements to demand #MMR & #Polio vaccinations from any travelers from the #USA or who had been to the #US within the last 6 months.

First baby dies of measles in Ontario, born prematurely to an unvaccinated mother who contracted the virus during pregnancy.
Ontario has had 2,009 cases since the outbreak began.
140 people have been hospitalized, including 101 children, babies and adolescents.

Quick note for those doing their own research on Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) vaccine:
It was developed by Maurice Hilleman and was licensed for use in the US by Merck in 1971.
Of the 7 attributed deaths in the 54 years since MMR vaccine was introduced in the US, none have been conclusively linked to the vaccine.
Anyone telling you otherwise has an agenda they may not be telling you about.

Medical and health research is vital to medicine and public health. There are already real world impacts felt around the country and around the world. People are dying, medical breakthroughs being delayed or prevented, and we are dismantling protections against #environmentalhazards. To put it in terms of money: health research grant money has a tangible #roi. It is not a money sink: we get more than we put in.
Access to healthcare is also being threatened with cuts to Medicaid which would prevent many who currently qualify from qualifying in the future. This means more #humans being kept from health insurance. A trip to the doctor is no longer a question of time or coinsurance but instead a decision between #life with crippling #debt or #death. #republicans are pushing for these cuts so their rich buddies pay even less in taxes and we can spend more the military. They are responsible for when you or your loved ones are faced with the decision between debt and death.

Older adults: are you getting an #MMR booster? (Thanks to RFKJr and his ilk's endless disinformation on #vaccines leading to the inevitable result of measles resurgence and potentially renewed endemicity.) I found my old Army shot records which showed that I had a booster in the 1980s so I should be good. My doc was satisfied with it. Man, the Army gave me a lot of shots. They used an airgun that drove the vaccine past the skin, leaving a tiny bleeding wound. It really stung.
