Golden Hour

Just after sunrise, this lake at the edge of Haarlem turned gold. When these geese came flying by, I was ready. With this shot, I think I managed to capture the early morning atmosphere quite well.

Full moon at twilight. Lost Ponds, Mattatuck State Forest, Plymouth, Connecticut. May 8, 2017, 8:01 PM.

The blue-tinged twilight beneath a full moon on a dead calm evening. An isolated pond surrounded by forest. The single ripple made by a hungry fish is the only thing stirring the surface of the pond. Some passing clouds are a darker tone of the blue gray sky, mirrored on the surface of the pond below.

Brzeg jeziora. Po prawej w suchym sitowiu dwie łodzie, zielona i zielono-biała. Jezioro jest otoczone drzewami. Niebo jest błękitne i bez chmur.

Widoczna pomiędzy krzewami i drzewkami tafla jeziora. Po drugiej stronie ściana drzew. W jeziorze delikatnie zmarszczonym od lekkiego wiatru odbija się błękitne, bezchmurne niebo.

Opuszczone i zniszczone budynki z cegły. Rząd niskich zabudowań z dwuspadzistym dachem przechodzi w wyższą wieżę z górną częścią z drewna. Po prawej stoi jeszcze wyższy ceglany komin. Okna są powybijane lub zamurowane, dach na wieży ma spore ubytki.

Cycling to work and a swim in the lake on the way. Air 6°C, water ~12°C.
Weather is quite nice, so I thought I record a short video for a change.

Mit dem Velo zur Arbeit und unterwegs ein Bad im See. Luft 6°C, Wasser ~12°C. Gutes Wetter heute, so dachte ich, zur Abwechslung mache ich mal ein kurzes Video.

All photos are mine & edited using Darktable. I follow science, history, & photography toots. Here's a photo I made of Bonsai Rock, Lake Tahoe, Nevada (2017).

Bonsai Rock in Lake Tahoe, Nevada, is a large granite boulder just off the eastern shoreline. It's name comes from the two small "bonsai" trees growing in cracks at the top of the rock. The photo shows the rock in a mirror still lake with a red-orange sunset and distant mountain peaks in the background. There are two smaller rocks to the right that barely break the surface of the lake.

Zarasai, in the far north near the Latvian border.

The town of Zarasai photographed from the big island in lake Zarasai. The town is quite far away but the church towers are clearly visible, as is most of the small town. A tree intrudes from the left of the shot. The water is calm on this side. The sky is overcast with patterned clouds.

View over lake Zarase from the town towards the big island in the middle. There's an artificial causeway and bridge connecting it to the mainland now. This side has small waves on the water.
