And whilst most #LEA|s don't want to acknowledge it, #Monero and #DNM|s reduced #crime and #violence because instead of people meeting in dark alleys with guns they have moved their stuff online, where noone has to meet each other and this noone can be ambushed, and where building reputation is key.

  • Shure scams are rampant among the small fish, but not having cash on people to mug reduced the street violence quite a lot.

Banning Monero is as futile as banning foreign currency: It's only backfiring harder and reducing transparency for investigators.

@Sibshops not really, it keeps stable at the €250-ish mark, so it's simply a jump in value tuat seems persistent. Whereas any ML would spike it for a bit and/or go down afterwards...

  • I don't have the necessary time nor resources to check for that, and given the rampant use of #Shitcoins and the fact that "Non-KYC Crypt-to-Crypto exchangers" have changing wallets as they don't want to tumble clean coins, it's really hard to evidence that.

If anything, #delisting|s of #Monero made it harder to do #AML & #CTF investigations since #Exchanges did keep record on the exact "coin" (like a Serial Number on a banknote), allowing for #cash-like tracing based off known date/time, wallet & coin correlation.

  • Kinda how #LEA|s inject small amounts of cash into organized crime to track correlations.

from what i can gather after cruising RadioReference not all jurisdictions with #ICE activity are using the allocated radio systems and spectrum for ICE/DHS, in some cases they use regional tactical radio services like they did in North Carolina.

depending on your jurisdiction my "ICE Detector" guide may not be as comprehensive as it should be, but i'm told some teams prefer to use cellular systems or other communications options that aren't their FCC assigned bands for p25/etc.
