Today in #Edmonton, Prime Minister #Carney is announcing a $187 million investment to repair and rebuild critical #infrastructure in #JasperNationalPark. This funding, provided to #ParksCanada over two years, will support the reconstruction of roads, campgrounds, trails, and permanent staff housing, and help provide interim housing options for staff and residents during rebuilding.

My grandfather, Bob, took me here when I was 8. It was my first trip without my parents - a boys weekend. To say it had a profound impact on me as a person would be an understatement. I credit my love for the #Mountains in large because of this trip.

The snow-capped Athabasca Mountain on the left sits high above the Athabasca Valley and is slowing the advancement of thick clouds that threaten the valley.

Athabasca Glacier This is an image of the Athabasca Glacier and Mt. Athabasca located in Jasper National Park in the Canadian Rocky Mountains. Mt Athabasca rises above the Athabasca Glacier and the Athabasca Valley. The mountain is snow-capped where it is not too steep. The mountains are above the tree line so they are rough and rugged. The Athabasca Glacier flows down from the high country to the right of the mountain. There are several ice falls on the glacier as it flows down to the valley. There are some high clouds in the sky being partially held up by the mountains.

For Connaught Dr, the first photos showed that Jasper Brewing had survived and that there was a clear cut with all the debris next door.

However there’s now a photo that is truly showing firefighters fighting the fire at this location.

It’s likely that they hurried to bring the whole building down once the fire reduced and why all the debris look re-arranged. But it was not a preemptive destruction.
