There is still a little over one full day to apply to #fluConf2025

fluconf.online/apply/

FluConf is an online event for those that still care about public health.

Proposals require little more than a brief bio and a description of what you'd like to share on the day of the event.

We welcome submissions relating to a wide range of topics, but especially those acknowledging the importance of #interdisciplinarity and #intersectionality in free/open-source software, community governance, and any efforts to work towards a more just and equitable world.

Another great episode of the @simplifyingcomplexity #podcast from Sean Brady in conversation with Jimmy Soni, author of the book "A Mind at Play: How Claude Shannon invented the information age", in which he covers Shannon's contributions to information theory.

The key point that struck me in the discussion was that it was Shannon's grounding in *both* mathematics and electrical engineering that helped him make breakthroughs in information theory - once again proving the value of #interdisciplinarity.

The Brain is Wider than the Sky (Dickinson) or "Historically considered the seat of memory and emotion, the brain may devote far less energy to these higher-order functions than to monitoring the body’s organs, physiology and metabolism to maintain homeostasis. “Everyone in the lab began to think about that,” he said. “How far does the brain’s control over body biology go?” (quantamagazine.org/the-brainst)

Day 3 of #SocialNetworkAnalysis Duality@50 conference is coming to a close.
After 3 days of intense discussions my brain feels very exploded - (mostly) in a good way.
Reminded how hard #interdisciplinarity is - I'm the only architecture scholar in a group of sociologists, psychologists, political scientists, mathematicians and statisticians and while it's super inspiring, I also translate in my mind all the time how everything I'm hearing might be relevant for my own domain

The book ‘Strange Bedfellows: An experiment in Student-directed Interdisciplinary Research’ is now available #openaccess at University of #Groningen #Press.

#Interdisciplinarity is a bit of a buzzword in the #Dutch university sector. It is also one of the most prioritized #policy goals. Yet, interdisciplinarity remains under-defined. How, then, are we supposed to adopt an interdisciplinary approach?

Interested in #cybersecurity and #interdisciplinarity from an #ethnographic perspective? Then have a look at @lkocksch and my new paper "Towards a Typology of Interdisciplinarity in Cyber security: Trade, Choice, and Agonistic-Antagonist" drawing among others on Andrew Barry and Annemarie Mol:

Interdisciplinary approaches are absolutely essential to the study of Human-Agent Interaction.

If you agree with this sentence, check this workshop organized at the HAI conference, and come to chat with people from other fields to share knowledge and create synergies!
