Living in NZ for nearly 20 years and doing my taxes via the IRD website in a few clicks every year while still needing to suffer through US taxes and Intuit TurboTax this news is just another nail in the coffin for the US and the common person. The government knows what you owe them for most salaried tax payers yet nothing is simple or easy. What a scam.

I swear #IRD don't want my damn money. Can't figure out what username they've saddled me with is - it's not my email address or IRD number, so I've no fucking clue after that. Technically, they have a "forgot username" function that should send it to me, but I am receiving nothing.
Set this up over the phone a couple months ago, I'd really actually like to start paying off my student loan (despite their literal advice not to) BUT I CANNOT GET INTO THE DAMN WEBSITE 
Anyone got any clue what sort of username they prompt? I can't imagine what I would have used if not my email address or IRD
