My other purchase is a bag of naturally dark black alpaca roving.

I've been wanting to try blending the husky fur with something a bit longer and more likely to hold together. I'm going to play around with proportions, but I think this would look really sharp as a dark core of black alpaca surrounded by a fuzzy white husky halo.

Of course I'll post photos when I get to this project!

My poll ended up on Bacon Burner by one vote! I’m happy with that because I realized I already have a WIP in color very close to the Jellyfish Ride colorway to be followed with something close to paper airplane skies! So Calcifer it is. I’m thinking I will spin from one end of the batt to the other and then chain ply to maintain the gradient. We will see. With 2 (or 3) other spinning WIPs at the same time no one project is making much progress. #HandSpinning #FiberArts wandering.shop/@consumablejoy/

The Wandering ShopconsumableJoy (@consumablejoy@wandering.shop)I got these batts from Fossil Fibers - pics to follow in the thread. I am thinking of spinning them on supported spindle. They are all Studio Ghibli themed. Which one should I start with? @fiberarts@a.gup.pe #fiber #fiberarts #spinning #handspinning (1/2) [ ] Bacon Burner - Calcifer (purple/orange) [ ] Ponyo’s Jellyfish Ride (blue/turqoise/pink) [ ] Paper Airplane Skies - the Wind Rises (sky shades)

Today I skeined up a literal bucketload of freshly plied yarn, mostly 4-ply black Shetland, but also some red Targhee at the bottom of the pail.

It's all a bit over-twisted on the ply, but should be entirely fine after wash/dry. Really pleased with how it all turned out and am looking forward to the black & grey Shetland sweater that's in my future. :spinningwheel:

The kitty blanket is finished! I'm so chuffed with it, but also a little sorry to be done #knitting it, because it was fun to make. My partner loves it, and asked me to make more for our den. The #cats continue to produce fur, so I see more #handspinning in my future. This is a blend of Jacob #wool and cat #floof that I spun. It is WARM! The pattern is my variation of the famous 10 stitch blanket by Frankie Brown. More details in the alt text. #handmade #fiberarts #textiles #homespun

I'm having a go at a longest thread competition for the first time! 2 grams of 22 micron merino, 2ply yarn.

It's taken me almost a full day to spin it on a drop spindle! I count 38 wraps per inch, the official length measurement will be tomorrow.

This is one of my favorite YouTube channels because she is so knowledgeable and passionate about #handcraft especially #handspinning #weaving and #knitting. Here, she takes us through the history of industrial textile production in the USA, along with the resulting labor movement. As a bonus, she also explains how the tariffs won't lead to a renewed US textile industry bcz we're standing on our own dicks. youtube.com/watch?v=2qALHS-QJ2

Checking in on how #FiberGoals went in April - I did at least 5 minutes of fiber arts on 21/30 days. I was hoping for more but some days I was just too tired, and that’s ok. I did mostly spinning (on both wheel and supported spindle) but I also kicked off a Sophie Scarf (I’m feeling pretty meh on that) and picked up my Brette origami scarf again, which I love working on. #handSpinning #knitting #fiberarts wandering.shop/@consumablejoy/

For #WIPWednesday I have:
* sock 2 cast on ready for a short trip
* 28 grams of fiber left to spin
* 5 cm of the body of the Cymric cardigan left to go - that is the to be folded part of the hem
* fun blending board experiment with recently dyed Gotland and an older sample of minty coloured Clun Forest (I think, could also be Southdown). The Gotland had not felted and was still reasonably organised after dyeing.

After writing this post, I almost plopped a inexpensive Turkish spindle in my bag in case this really does happen and I want to leave the spindle and some fiber with someone, but then I thought, no, not quite yet. Plus I am going to Seattle and there are many places to pick up this stuff there if someone wants it. #fiberarts #HandSpinning
