Die #USA unter #Trump zeigen deutlich, dass es für einen #Rechtsstaat gefährlich ist, wenn #Anwaltskanzleien nur noch als Profitcenter verstanden und geführt werden. Dass Anwält*innen - selbstverständlich - betriebswirtschaftlich denken und gewinnorientiert handeln müssen, steht dabei außer Frage.

Aber der Rechtsstaat ist auf eine Anwaltschaft angewiesen, die sich auch und vor allem als unabhängiges Organ der Rechtspflege versteht. Das Engagement der deutschen Anwaltschaft z.B. für die Stärkung der Resilienz des #Bundesverfassungsgerichts
hat einmal mehr bewiesen, dass wir uns auf diese demokratische Grundhaltung der Anwaltschaft in Deutschland verlassen können.

Damit dies so bleibt, macht das #Fremdbesitzverbot - also das Verbot, dass Nicht-Anwälte wie z.B. große Investoren Kanzleien besitzen dürfen - absolut Sinn.

Und noch etwas zeigen die USA derzeit: auch bei den Anwaltskanzleien gilt, dass Gleichschaltung umso leichter gelingt, je weniger aktive Einheiten es gibt in einem Bereich gibt und je größer diese werden. Auch dies spricht stark für eine eher mittelständische und regional verwurzelte Struktur der Anwaltschaft.

It provided definitive evidence that racial groupings have no biological basis. In fact, there is more genetic variation within racial groups than between them. Race, it showed, is a social construct.

But despite that fundamental finding, which has only been reinforced as work on human genomes has continued, race and ethnicity are still often deployed to categorise human populations as distinct biological groups. These are views that can be found circulating in the pseudoscience on social media, but they also still creep into scientific research and healthcare systems. It is even more troubling when this thinking finds its way into the halls of government.

President Donald Trump and his administration have made no secret of his rejection of many aspects of the scientific worldview. Since returning to the White House, he has made sweeping cuts to science funding for biomedical and climate research, but in a recent Executive Order, Trump took aim at what most scientists now regard as biological reality.

Entitled 'Restoring Truth and Sanity to American History', the Presidential order, signed by Trump, targeted an exhibition in the Smithsonian American Art Museum called 'The Shape of Power: Stories of Race and American Sculpture'.

The order is part of a broader attempt to shape American culture by eliminating 'improper, divisive, or anti-American ideology' from the institute's museums. It states: 'Museums in our Nation's capital should be places where individuals go to learn – not to be subjected to ideological indoctrination or divisive narratives that distort our shared history.' 

The exhibition itself is criticised in the text for promoting the idea that 'race is not a biological reality but a social construct . The order offers the exhibition as an example of a 'harmful and oppressive' shift in the narrative portraying American values. 

This is the point when people like me, a geneticist who specialises in the history of race science, get a little bit vexed.

The issue here is that the sentence cited from the Smithsonian is 100% correct. This is neither controversial in science nor history."

The term originated in 1930s #Germany but applies analytically to various modern systems where multiple independent information channels become increasingly synchronized to produce homogeneous messaging.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

Most German newspapers did not adopt #Nazi ideology voluntarily. Instead, the Nazis enforced control through censorship and propaganda. When #Hitler came to power in 1933, the Nazis controlled less than three percent of Germany’s newspapers, but they quickly established control over the press by eliminating opposition newspapers, seizing printing equipment, and implementing laws like the #Schriftleitergesetz (Editor’s Law) to ensure journalists aligned with Nazi ideology.

Propaganda and censorship were central tools used by the Nazi regime to shape public opinion and suppress dissenting voices.

In the case of the U.S. it’s curious a quickly established media is capitulating to Trump’s whims. Executive orders are directives issued by the President that manage operations of the federal government and federal agencies. In Gannett's case, while they cited Trump's executive order as influencing their decision, private companies are likely making these changes voluntarily in response to the political climate or anticipated regulatory changes rather than being legally compelled to do so by the executive order itself.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
