Renata 🌈 Autistic Translator<p>When I got into the localization business, I'd never in a gazillion years would have thought I'd want to work with game loc. </p><p>I wasn't a gamer per se as a kid. I had a mini game, but that was it. I hated losing, and I didn't have fun with games because of all of that pressure to succeed. </p><p>But here we are! Beginner cozy gamer, fresh out of a fun, informative game loc course. Kinda addicted to The Sims 4. </p><p>One main takeaway from the course:</p><p>There's lots of kinds of games out there! Including educational games, which is often not a path most translators think of pursuing when they consider game loc. </p><p>Below is my certificate 😍 </p><p><a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/GameLoc" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>GameLoc</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/Localization" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Localization</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/Translation" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Translation</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/Translator" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Translator</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/BrazilianPortuguese" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BrazilianPortuguese</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/xl8" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>xl8</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/L10n" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>L10n</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/IndieDev" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>IndieDev</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/Gaming" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Gaming</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/CozyGaming" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>CozyGaming</span></a></p>
Seif Chaib 🥛<p>How do variables tick in Return of the Obra Dinn? 🤔</p><p>⚓ As is the case with all of Lucas' output, this is a special game not solely in premise and style, but also in gameplay.</p><p>Obra Dinn's one-of-a-kind deduction system is challenging enough for players to grasp. Loek van Kooten, MA<p>Translators don’t always have the luxury to translate from ready-made subtitling files. Sometimes there are no subtitles at all, so that they must be time-coded and generated by hand, and sometimes you have to deal with bitmapped subtitles that are very hard to OCR. </p><p>Cattitude changes that: what used to take hours, now takes less than a minute. And the quality is outstanding.</p><p><a href="https://c4ttitude.com/blog/subtle-subtitles-its-all-in-the-transcription/?preview=true&amp;_thumbnail_id=4151" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">c4ttitude.com/blog/subtle-subt</span><span class="invisible">itles-its-all-in-the-transcription/?preview=true&amp;_thumbnail_id=4151</span></a> </p><p><a href="https://toot.community/tags/translation" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>translation</span></a> <a href="https://toot.community/tags/localization" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>localization</span></a> <a href="https://toot.community/tags/translate" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>translate</span></a> <a href="https://toot.community/tags/localize" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>localize</span></a> <a href="https://toot.community/tags/l10n" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>l10n</span></a> <a href="https://toot.community/tags/gamedev" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>gamedev</span></a> <a href="https://toot.community/tags/indiedev" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>indiedev</span></a> <a href="https://toot.community/tags/gameloc" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>gameloc</span></a></p>

Loek van Kooten, MA<p>Game translators and technical translators know it: almost every file has them… the parts in the source text that list every possible part of the car or item in the game. Not the most fascinating part of the text, but one of the most important parts, as this is the place where you define the terminology for the rest of the project. Loek van Kooten, MA<p>Terminal velocity: terminology look-up faster than ever</p><p>It’s quite an honor for Cattitude to be compared to tools like memoQ and SDL Trados Studio, especially if you realize that the latter products are being made by huge companies with access to tons of resources, while Cattitude is basically a one-man show. Yet, the result is a fully-fledged CAT tool that is faster and smarter.</p><p>READ ON: <a href="https://lnkd.in/e8nBuq-r" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">lnkd.in/e8nBuq-r</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p><p><a href="https://toot.community/tags/translation" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>translation</span></a> <a href="https://toot.community/tags/localization" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>localization</span></a> <a href="https://toot.community/tags/translate" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>translate</span></a> <a href="https://toot.community/tags/localize" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>localize</span></a> <a href="https://toot.community/tags/l10n" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>l10n</span></a> <a href="https://toot.community/tags/gamedev" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>gamedev</span></a> <a href="https://toot.community/tags/indiedev" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>indiedev</span></a> <a href="https://toot.community/tags/gameloc" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>gameloc</span></a></p>
Loek van Kooten, MA<p>We're now allowed to announce another beautiful collaboration with Words of Magic. We'll be taking care of the Japanese and Chinese translation of Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew, sequel to Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun, by Mimimi Games from Germany. Suitable for all ages, and obviously very good for your Japanese and Chinese. </p><p>Cinematic Reveal Trailer: <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EIuHTjN57nw" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">youtube.com/watch?v=EIuHTjN57n</span><span class="invisible">w</span></a></p><p>Gameplay Trailer: <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sGXRBuuwnRI" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">youtube.com/watch?v=sGXRBuuwnR</span><span class="invisible">I</span></a></p><p><a href="https://toot.community/tags/gamedev" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>gamedev</span></a> <a href="https://toot.community/tags/indiedev" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>indiedev</span></a> <a href="https://toot.community/tags/gameloc" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>gameloc</span></a> <a href="https://toot.community/tags/translation" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>translation</span></a> <a href="https://toot.community/tags/localization" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>localization</span></a> <a href="https://toot.community/tags/translate" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>translate</span></a></p>
Hugo Labrande (moved to digipres.club)<p>Speaking of cool stuff, I recently contributed some improvements to the French <a href="https://mstdn.ca/tags/translation" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>translation</span></a> of the fheroes2 open source project. Really cool projet, really friendly people 🙂</p><p>This is an engine that recreates "Heroes of Might and Magic 2", so it runs on modern computers including <a href="https://mstdn.ca/tags/Linux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Linux</span></a>, but also the Nintendo <a href="https://mstdn.ca/tags/Switch" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Switch</span></a> and <a href="https://mstdn.ca/tags/PSVita" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>PSVita</span></a> ! Buy the game on GOG, point the engine at the assets, and voilà, you get to (re)play this awesome game 🙂</p><p><a href="https://ihhub.github.io/fheroes2/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">ihhub.github.io/fheroes2/</span><span class="invisible"></span></a><br><a href="https://mstdn.ca/tags/gameloc" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>gameloc</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.ca/tags/retrogaming" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>retrogaming</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.ca/tags/retrocomputing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>retrocomputing</span></a></p>
