MikeDunnAuthor<p>Today in Labor History November 24, 1927: On Thanksgiving Day, California troops battled 1,200 inmates when Folsom prisoners revolted. 7 prisoners and 2 guards died. 5 other prisoners were later hanged. The revolt began as an attempted prison escape. Governor Young contacted Colonel Wallace A. Mason, Commanding Officer of the 184th Infantry, who deployed all Sacramento units in his regiment. Soon after, troops were also deployed from Yuba City, Marysville, Stockton, Woodland and Lodi.
