#FlyFishingFriday (almost)
When I head out to nearby creeks, I don’t say I’m going fishing. I tell my wife or kids I’m going for a walk Feeling a bit guilty, like I’m sneaking off to enjoy myself. Saying I’m walking sounds like I’m just trying to stay healthy
But of course, they know I’ll be fishing
Fly fishing teaches patience better than any other activity. Standing in a river for hours, reading water patterns, waiting for the perfect drift. Nature's masterclass in mindfulness.
Little Darby Creek, PA
This small tributary is stocked with trout, though the stocking points are located far upstream and downstream. It takes some time for trout to appear in this area. Eventually, the smarter ones that evade predators (humans) begin to find their hiding spots

East Branch Chester Creek, PA
A charming little stream by a soccer field
I hadn’t planned to walk along the creek, so I ended up with a few ticks on my pants
Next time, I’ll come fully prepared to explore the area properly
If fishing teaches you anything, it's how to shrug off failure and cast again.
Darby Creek, PA
Felt like a natural stop sign
I had a feeling I shouldn’t go any farther
So, instead of continuing along Darby Creek, I chose to follow Little Darby Creek, which joins it just downstream from here
Supposedly just stocked with trout
But all I caught were fallfish and other non-trout species
But I can say…every fish I caught was wild
Where Little Darby Creek meets Darby Creek
Wondering which way to go
I prefer Little Darby, but there are a few spots on Darby I can’t pass up
Where Ithan Creek meets Darby Creek — one of my favorite spots
A great spot, though that doesn’t necessarily mean I caught any fish
Still, I always love this view

Dusk of the Delaware River
I’ve been working a lot, really a lot, so I should take a break
But when I do have free time, I end up fishing or hiking… so it may not be exactly a real break
What is a break?
The water temperature is almost warm enough to cast a soft plastic toad. A great topwater lure for bass, it's fished on and around emergent weeds. The paddle feet kick up the water to attract the fish.
When you get a strike, the trick is to feel the weight of the fish before setting the hook.
My favourite river for #flyfishing , the Murindindi. Got zero today, but what a beautiful day to be out and about. 4hrs walking up stream, (stealth mode/ in the zone), 30mins back along the track. #mindfulness
Darby Creek, PA
I have accumulated a lot of flies, mostly the ones I bought
The ones I tied myself are nearly all gone because I use them first. So, no more tying or purchasing until I use up the flies I already have
I should do something similar when I buy “wrong beer”…
I will be free next week, sort of….
But I plan to sneak off to local creeks more often

This picture was taken on Sunday, the day before a large trout release, which happened yesterday
While catching fish may be easy, finding quality time isn't
I'm glad I made the effort to enjoy a peaceful afternoon fly fishing this section on Sunday
Snapping Turtle
It came out of the pool where I was fishing, noticed me, and tried to return to where it came from
I was focused on my fly and reacted a bit too late to catch it up close on video
