Africa: Epilepsy Patients in Africa Fight Stigma and Neglect: [IPS] Benin, Nigeria -- When Angela Asemota's son began having seizures at six years old in 1996, people gossiped that he was possessed by evil spirits, leading her to seek healing from native healers and religious clerics. Today, we come together to raise awareness about epilepsy, a neurological condition that affects millions of people worldwide. Epilepsy is more than just seizures—it’s a journey of resilience, understanding, and hope for those living with it.

Let’s use this day
• Educate ourselves about the causes, symptoms, and treatments.
• Empower those affected to seek medical care without stigma.
• Encourage open conversations to foster understanding and acceptance.

By sharing it, you can help raise awareness and make a difference in breaking the stigma surrounding this condition.

He's decided he wants to wean off meds, but he's not sure when. There's an obligatory eeg, which for him is merely a formality because this dude, has never registered any abnormal electrical seizure activity on any of the myriad of eegs he's had in the past 6 years.

It'll take 6 weeks to wean off each med, and he cannot drive while weaning off meds, he also cannot drive for the 6 months after he's weaned off meds.

Now available on Bandcamp - Mood Purple - for Epilepsy Awareness Day. Proceeds to go to epilepsy.org.uk. If you not into the music donate directly. Or if you are into the music but rather not go via Bandcamp/PayPal or even me, donate directly & dm me, I’ll happily send you a dl code.

Thank good thoughts, the ginger on the right with the curls and sans glasses has an appointment with his neurologist tomorrow.

There is a good chance he might get permission to take driver's ed. He hasn't had seizures for over a year, but he still has other weird neurological, non-seizure activity that we've never been able to figure out. So getting permission is not a guarantee.
