Anyone have a good design for a circuit or IC that generates a clean sine wave within the range of 20Hz-20kHz?

Bonus points if it doesn't require a specialty chip (anything outside of the 74- or 4000 series)

Something different to start the morning. One of the 6yr old rechargeable hearing aids showed “battery failure” light (using what for power, eh?) yesterday so I carefully nudged the clever little pins holding it together. Batteries at the back, they appear to be soldered/spot welded to tiny wires. Most of the device seems dedicated to enclosure.

#electronics and #HamRadio #DIY peeps: for surge suppression, for a control line, DXE sells this thing, for like a lot of money. based on the picture it looks like its just a capacitor from each wire to ground, I'm assuming theory is that normal use the capacitor blocks the dc control voltages from ground, but with impulse or ac induced by nearby lightning would shunt to ground.

Anyway, the question is....
does anyone know what type/value of capacitors to use, if I were to home brew this?
