Futurist Jim Carroll<p>"𝑌𝑜𝑢 𝑛𝑒𝑒𝑑 𝑡𝑜 𝑎𝑐𝑡 𝑖𝑛 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑚𝑜𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡 𝑦𝑜𝑢 ℎ𝑎𝑣𝑒!" - Futurist Jim Carroll</p><p>One of my main messages yesterday during my keynote was that you need to make the most of the moment if you have one. If a wide variety of trends are suddenly coming together - which they are for medical device technology as they are for many other industries - then you have to move at the speed of the trends. This is a message I often share while on stage.</p><p>In that context, I've also been doing a final proofread of 𝑫𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑹𝒂𝒊𝒏 - I suspect we are days away from release. And in one of the chapters, I saw one of the phrases I wrote - "𝑌𝑜𝑢 𝑛𝑒𝑒𝑑 𝑡𝑜 𝑎𝑐𝑡 𝑖𝑛 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑚𝑜𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡 𝑦𝑜𝑢 ℎ𝑎𝑣𝑒." When you write tens of thousands of words, you sometimes forget the wisdom you wove into just a few of those words.</p><p>With that in mind, here's what you need to think about.</p><p>You need to commit.</p><p>You need to have a compelling sense of urgency.</p><p>You have to decide to move forward, not back.</p><p>You should have a sense that RIGHT NOW is the right time.</p><p>You must be ready to act decisively.</p><p>You need to make decisions.</p><p>You need to move with the trends as they mature, not as they fade.</p><p>Do things. Now.</p><p>Get it done - because why should you wait?</p><p>Kill indecision - otherwise, it will kill you.</p><p>Start doing. Action is better than stasis.</p><p>Act faster - because your world is.</p><p>Volatility is normal - learn from it.</p><p>Think faster. Don't wait for perfect information.</p><p>Act more. Momentum is valuable.</p><p>Change is inevitable - Indecisiveness isn't.</p><p>Because waiting is fatal.</p><p>Agility, innovation, and execution are key.</p><p>---</p><p>Futurist Jim Carroll admits to having never understood indecision.</p><p>**<a href="https://mastodon.futurist.info/tags/Action" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Action</span></a>** **<a href="https://mastodon.futurist.info/tags/Urgency" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Urgency</span></a>** **<a href="https://mastodon.futurist.info/tags/Decisiveness" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Decisiveness</span></a>** **<a href="https://mastodon.futurist.info/tags/Momentum" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Momentum</span></a>** **<a href="https://mastodon.futurist.info/tags/Innovation" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Innovation</span></a>** **<a href="https://mastodon.futurist.info/tags/Agility" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Agility</span></a>** **<a href="https://mastodon.futurist.info/tags/Execution" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Execution</span></a>** **<a href="https://mastodon.futurist.info/tags/Trends" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Trends</span></a>** **<a href="https://mastodon.futurist.info/tags/Commitment" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Commitment</span></a>** **<a href="https://mastodon.futurist.info/tags/Now" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Now</span></a>**</p><p>Original post: <a href="https://jimcarroll.com/2025/06/decoding-tomorrow-your-daily-future-inspiration-agility-momentum-you-need-to-act-in-the-moment-you-have/" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">jimcarroll.com/2025/06/decodin</span><span class="invisible">g-tomorrow-your-daily-future-inspiration-agility-momentum-you-need-to-act-in-the-moment-you-have/</span></a></p>
Futurist Jim Carroll<p>"When the world slows down, winners speed up" - Futurist Jim Carroll</p><p>Here’s the truth: downturns don’t slow the future. They compress it. </p><p>They intensify it. Necessity didn’t just breed invention—it demanded acceleration. The rallying cry wasn’t “What if?” It was: “What’s next—and how fast can we make it real?”</p><p>That wasn't an isolated circumstance though, because history shows that speed wins in uncertainty. Research from multiple downturns tells the same story: Resilient companies move faster. They make bolder decisions. They simplify governance. They respond rapidly to cost shifts and market shocks. They act while others analyze. They reorganize for velocity and enable frontline decision-making. They accelerate when others stall.</p><p>Ask yourself:</p><p>- are we simplifying decision-making to increase speed?</p><p>- are we empowering teams to act in real-time?</p><p>- are we using volatility to break down bureaucratic barriers?</p><p>- are we rewarding speed of learning over perfection of planning?</p><p>Because one thing is certain: the winners of tomorrow are already moving faster today.</p><p><a href="https://futurist.info/tags/Speed" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Speed</span></a> <a href="https://futurist.info/tags/Acceleration" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Acceleration</span></a> <a href="https://futurist.info/tags/Resilience" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Resilience</span></a> <a href="https://futurist.info/tags/Agility" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Agility</span></a> <a href="https://futurist.info/tags/Opportunity" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Opportunity</span></a> <a href="https://futurist.info/tags/Future" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Future</span></a> <a href="https://futurist.info/tags/Decisiveness" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Decisiveness</span></a> <a href="https://futurist.info/tags/Momentum" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Momentum</span></a> <a href="https://futurist.info/tags/Crisis" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Crisis</span></a> <a href="https://futurist.info/tags/Velocity" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Velocity</span></a></p><p>Original post: <a href="https://jimcarroll.com/2025/05/decoding-tomorrow-your-daily-future-inspiration-when-the-world-slows-down-winners-speed-up/" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">jimcarroll.com/2025/05/decodin</span><span class="invisible">g-tomorrow-your-daily-future-inspiration-when-the-world-slows-down-winners-speed-up/</span></a></p>
