Don't sleep on the U.S.G.S.
A classic masterpiece for the Grand Canyon which is easy to get absorbed into. The complexities of the region laid out in such elegant visual simplicity.
Which do you prefer, "data viz" or "dataviz"?
I long time ago (10 years!) I did some Google Trends analysis and found that "dataviz" was the most commonly-used way of writing the term, so I've been sticking to that all this time.
But today, I checked again and found that 10 years ago happened to be right around an inflection point and since then, "data viz" has taken over.
Time to update my writing style! cc @stamen

I’m excited to share UVT-RS, my first project in #Rust
.
It’s a collection of crates to work with Uncrewed Vehicle Trajectory (UVT) files, from reading, writing, and generating files with #ROS bags & MCAP, to visualizing them in 2D and in 3D.
I learned a lot about Rust packaging and rosbag internals while building this, and I look forward to using Rust even more in #Robotics
Happy 7th Birthday to Quarticle!
A huge thank you to our brilliant team, amazing clients, and trusted partners who make this journey possible.
Here’s to the next chapter of innovation, impact, and collaboration!
From 1862, this was a comparative chart that provides you with the best of what was known for the major rivers and mountains of the world.
Great visualization let's you wander and discover, this does the job well

Starting today: Science Maps. Bibliometrics between understanding and visualization
Together with Marcus John, I organize a small series on science mapping for our workgroup "WG Visualization" at Competence Network Bibliometrics. We hop to gether traditional, current, and critical perspectives on one of the most established and iconic forms of visualizing data in #Bibliometrics and #NetworkAnalysis.
More talks will be announced soon!
Today, Katy Börner will kickoff our series with a presentation about "Mapping and Modeling Science, Technology, and Education". You can find further info and registration under the following link:

Do you think 3D visualization (using 3D software) is valid when it comes to DataViz for print?

@freakonometrics I love a good #InfoGraphic but in this case, I feel the scatter plot more accurately represents the data.

A new Apple diagram is posted, showing their results for the most recent quarter (ended June 28).
In the discussion on the earnings call, Apple specifically noted that their product costs increased $800 million because of new tariffs. I've highlighted that share of product costs in red.
