To even consider planting pines for carbon credits in an area where so much money and effort has been spent removing wilding pines seems ridiculous.

And as Gary Taylor of the Environmental Defence Society points out, “It’s not an appropriate response to climate change in any event because we need to actually reduce emissions, not try to plant our way out of that obligation.”

I am deeply cynical of #CarbonCredits and offsetting. It’s a licence to carry on ‘business as usual’, with minimal integrity attached to company claims. Do any of the players who use these schemes to amp up their green credentials actually do their own due diligence on the integrity of these schemes?Of course not, because they don’t care about the #ClimateCrisis, just their bottom line and selling to the next generation of consumers.
