I recall how well Quebec's independence bid went in the 90s. Canada's biggest corps moved their offices from Montreal to Toronto and real estate prices in Quebec plummeted.
Also mentioned in my replies a few days ago
"Among Canadians between the ages of 18 to 34, support for switching to socialism grows to 54% in favour and 23% opposed while 46% of Canadians between the ages of 35 to 54 believe Canada would be better off under socialism while 33% oppose."
Those are higher numbers than the folks yelling to separate.

So we are all clear. The folks from treaty 6, 7, 8 have said they aren't leaving Canada and are pretty sure their agreements have more legal rights than a bunch of angry podcast listeners in a referendum.
Can we please have laws against foreign ownership!! It is Never to our advantage!

Let me understand this:
You're sentenced for over a year for defending your land against pollution, but if you're white you are allowed to spend three weeks terrorizing citizens of our national capitol, urinate on a veteran's memorial, and threaten to overthrow the government and there are no legal consequences.

Danielle Smith just single handedly initiated a national unity crisis.
Conservatives Will Blow It by Keeping Poilievre
Voters in his own riding rejected his style of politics. And Canada will again.
"Another multimillion-dollar makeover for Poilievre won’t cut the mustard. It is time for the CPC to hit the reset button, and rediscover traditional conservative values that unite rather than divide people.
The alternative is for Conservatives to take up permanent residence in the political wilderness, no longer the party of Sir John A., but a tawdry imitation of the chaotic populism of Donald Trump"

One loss that will happen is stream costs to foreign markets will increase.
Netflix says it doesn't need a fair tax in Canada, because it produces 10% of North American productions in Canada.
Leaving Canadian production because of Trump, will mean significant taxes on Netflix and other US streamers, to replace productions lost to tarrifs.
Start cancelling US streamers now to prepare. Tell them why. Trump.
We need more people like Elizabeth May in politics. I hope the rumour about her being in the running for the Speaker position is true, I think she would be perfect for the role.
"We should be under no illusions about any supposed weakness in Canadian conservatism. In some ways, the same dynamic continues. The Liberals fail to deliver. Workers struggling with the cost-of-living crisis become more disillusioned. The right makes further inroads."

What impact would this have on Canada?
Are films filmed in #Toronto and #Vancouver are "produced" in the US but filmed in Canada?
Either way, this will just lower the quality and quantity of media the US produces.
It's fun to dunk on #Poilievre losing his own seat, and by no means should anyone stop!
But... having a leader run in a safe seat is just how it's done. Someone steps down. The leader steps in. This is the system.
I'm just saying.
Before the Trump Coup exposed billionaire plans for world fascism, Australian Labour was supposed to lose this election.
Trump and Elon have awakened rhe world.
As Lincoln said defeating the slavers, government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.
Shall not Perish.
They are not done counting, this is a tidal wave, an electoral tsunami.

“‘I'm literally crushed that we'll never be represented in this country and there's never a chance of changing the government,’ Speck said.”
It’s like nine years of the Harper Government™ never happened.
But it’s just like yesterday for a short lived policy, born in 1980 that ended in 1985, 40 years ago.
“Speck said the National Energy Program of the 1980s eroded her Canadian pride.”
And no mention of $34B of CANADIAN taxpayers’ money to build the TMX pipeline.

As if it was up to Canada.
Are you guys ok?
Not Trump, you guys, you free guys with all the history of freedom.
Is there a therapist for nations?
I am not one to boost up military stuff. As a planet we need to stop fighting wars. But that said, in an era where the USA is no longer a reliable partner and Canada might need to go its own way, the advent of remote controlled drones means we can have a lot more independence for our own defence like these small marine drones. Drone warfare is a fraction of the price of big complex machines, on air, land, or sea.

@jace If the voters in the Battle River-Crowfoot riding don't have a problem with the fact that the MP they elected less than a week ago is resigning to force a by-election and open a "safe seat" for a defeated candidate from Ontario, they're within their rights, but they'll end up with exactly the local representation they deserve.
