"Prominent crypto firms such as Robinhood, Republic, Coinbase, and Kraken are rapidly moving towards “tokenizing” traditional stocks, and pressuring regulators to allow it. Instead of buying your shares of publicly traded firms via a brokerage account that places orders on the NYSE or Nasdaq, you would use a crypto trading app to purchase a token representing a share. Companies hoping to develop such platforms usually promote the idea by saying that a blockchainified stock market would expand trading hours, and would be more accessible to international investors who didn’t want to go through the somewhat onerous process of opening an American brokerage account.

These companies don’t usually admit that, by encasing stocks in a blockchainy wrapper, they hope to tap into lucrative equities markets while sidestepping the expensive compliance and oversight requirements of traditional American brokerages and exchanges. This fits the long history of companies trying to use blockchains as a magic get-out-of-regulation-free wand, reminiscent of the 2017 bubble when companies used “initial coin offerings” (ICOs) to try to sidestep IPO regulations.d Indeed, Robinhood has been heavily lobbying for “a new regulatory approach [that’s] needed to allow tokenization to flourish” and not “stifle growth and innovation”.1 Regular readers of this newsletter will recognize this language as the standard rhetoric of a crypto company asking for carveouts and exemptions from regulations we collectively learned are necessary, oh, about a century ago — when a speculative bubble emerged around stocks sold to the public based on false or incomplete information and we wound up in the Great Depression."

As of March 24, I distanced myself from my proposal voted for grants by #cardano ideascale funds, upon learning the ultirioir use of the funds granted by my own co-applicant , while I did report it to the competent community authority from #tweag ( who for the record was non chalant to this , as if its business as usual) , I didn't use their platform , to inform the actual backers about it , as they perhaps lock the proposal after a timeline , to keep it as a record and there s no other native way to do this , I ve no charm to download other apps to do this and I am not responsible for the misinformation within #blockchain communities in general, that's also why I gave the other guy any space to communicate the proposal.
Should I have ?

Obviously that's another evidence of why #KYC IS THE ILLICIT ACTIVITY!...

  • That problem doesn't exist with #Monero as one cannot determine #transactions, #balances or link wallets by observing the #blockchain. Unlike with all those Shitcoins like #Bitcoin or #Ethereum!

  • So even if I had a Monero Wallet and even if you knew the wallet address, you cannot see what's on it or what transactions go in and out.

  • It's even more secure than #SEPA because thanks to #SWIFT & #FATCA the #IRS and #TreasuryDept. have bulk access to these systems and can basically see account balances in real time (when it comes to #US citizens! The rest they can approximate with bulk access to payment providers and intelligence).

So yeah, blame lack of #privacy, #secrecy, and #custody as well as #doxxing in the form of KYC under the false pretense of #AML for the rampant rise of #kidnappings and armed robberies of #shitcoin HODL'ers.

  • Obviously I do condemn such acts of violence as a matter of principle.

The fact that there are automated, idiot-proof tools like #chainalysis that enable statistical tracking and linking of transactions for everything except Monero is the problem.

  • Don't believe that such "AML compliance" tools are unique to the clients of said providers, because it's just connecting dots from public records. No warrant nor insiders nor MLAT needed.

IOW: OFC I'd have to expect getting robbed by organized crime if I were to post evidence of me sleeping on genuine gold bars.
