My head knows that wild birds don't understand the concept of being photographed. My heart knows that song sparrows adore being photographed, and pose especially for it. "Hey, I'm gonna perch by this pretty invasive iris! Get me singing over here!"
"I noticed that some of your bats were flying around on the top floor, maybe you'd consider letting me pick them off as they exit?" -- perky Bat Falcon
Moment in Flight
This is a fairly good image of a ring-billed gull (Larus delawarensis) mid-descent, focused on landing. I’d love to say I captured this moment on a secluded beach, but the reality is far less picturesque—I snapped it in a Walmart parking lot in Albany, Georgia, far from the ocean. Unbothered by the lack of sea breeze, the gull was intent on settling atop a light pole. Ring-bills are nothing if not adaptable.

He is a Young/juvenile Eurasian Jay who posed quite nicely in a tree at Summer Leys this evening.
The colourful Corvid, the Eurasian Jay.
I probably see this bird maybe twice a year, so really happy to find one on this evenings walk.
My first decent shot of a Chiffchaff, in the Secret Swamp at WWT Castle Espie.

Barn Swallow on Twisted Wire
Charlie and I set out for another early morning walk, embracing the warmth of the day. With summer approaching, the temperature had already climbed to 78°F by 8:00 a.m. Though we only covered a couple of miles, the heat and humidity made each step feel longer. As always, I carried my camera, and along the way, I spotted a barn swallow (Hirundo rustica)—an unexpected but welcome sight.
