Switzerland is beautiful, but there is nothing wrong with Austria either. Moreover, it is a far less burden to my finances. And roaming works again at no extra cost. I followed the rivers Ill, Alfenz, and Rosanna. What a nice sounding name, and in my head it is singing "Meet you all the way, Rosanna". I am now camping where the Sanna meets the Inn.

Day OFF for #cultural purposes during my #retirement #bikepacking tour on #Brompton :visit to the #Violin #Museum in #Cremona ,which exhibits several #Stradivarius among others, followed by a #concert before, during and after which the #instrument was secured by an armed guard

Thank you for your attention to this matter!

Bikepacking bursary for women, nim-binary and marginalised genders:

“Riding into the wild, sleeping under the stars, and discovering what’s possible on two wheels can be transformative,” said Charlotte Inman, director of Sisters in the Wild UK. “This bursary opens that door for riders who may not otherwise have the gear or support.”

I got a chance to do a s24o with the Zpack Pivot Solo tent. It's really roomy inside. It wasn't hard to set up, but I had to fuss around to get a perfect pitch that made the bathtub floors work right. I assume I'll get faster the more I use it. As I expected, it had condensation on the walls (I was camped next to a lake on a moist night), but with the screen on the foot side, my sleeping bag's foot didn't get wet like in other shelters like this.

I have been waiting for today to arrive for a while now. Mostly because I crossed the border from Sweden to Norway, and I have never been this close to my destination!

But today started in Sweden, and the last ancient ruin I visited there was the Stenskeppet, also known as the Blomsholm Stone Ship, from the Iron Age.

A few kilometers later, I crossed to Norway on the Old Svinesund Bridge, and that felt euphoric in so many ways.

Tomorrow I reach Oslo!

Boah, Komoot ey 🙄

Three countries in one day: Switzerland, Liechtenstein, and Austria. I had a really nice company for a couple of hours on my bicycle trip along the river Rhine. A gang of 4 bromptonauts from the the Origami Club shared my tour. They were on a tour from Chur, Switzerland, back towards Zurich. One of them was Axel (@xtaran). What a fabulous meeting! Thank you, guys, you made my day.

Most of my ride today was under rain. Sometimes it was just a few drops, sometimes the opposite. It was also the hilliest bike ride ever on my Strava, but it was a great day!

I saw the Tanum Teleport from the road. And I stopped to check the Bronze Age Rock Carvings in Tanum that made my day!

Tonight I sleep in Strömstad, less than 30 km from Norway. Tomorrow I will arrive in a different country.

I'm looking for a rear rack for my bike to use for bikepacking. It'll need to use an axle mount. The goal is to carry the majority of my gear in two panniers. I've narrowed it down to either a Tailfin Pannier Rack or an Old Man Mountain Divide. The Tailfin is expensive and the Old Man Mountain one is heavy. So there's a tradeoff to be made.

Are there any racks that mount to axles that I'm missing? Any opinions on either of these racks or others?

The cow stared at me. I looked friendly and spontaneously offered her my friendship. But she turned her head and skeptically looked at the animal I came riding on. She frowned while I took this picture. Slowly, she approached me and finally even let me scratch her behind her ears. Apparently we were friends now. I had a brief chat with her while waiting for my rims to cool down after heavy breaking on my ride down from Oberalppass, Switzerland.

When I was leaving Gothenburg, I was a bit worried about the lack of bike lanes on my way to Uddevalla. And I was right because I mostly rode on roads with cars and trucks most of the time.

On my way north, I passed by Bohus Fortress, saw some fighter jets aside the road, and one of the craziest paths I have seen around a lake and a rock.

There were many more hills than I expected, but I managed to survive. Tomorrow, 90 km more on the way to my last stop in Sweden!
