This is where it gets exciting. It's not just "hey, I made another pair of those earrings". It's also "I sent this photo to Spoilt Rotten Beads and told them how I made them, and they loved them so much they want to make a video tutorial, giving me credit, of course".

And there's even more than that. I have found an outlet that doesn't involve me having to post stuff (which is stressful because the post office is not handy). There is a local shop that wants to sell my earrings. I won't make a lot from them, but the beads will now more than pay for themselves, so yay and w00t!

Another pair of the doubling-up bugle bead earrings as posted yesterday, but this pair is in olive green, so it shows up more clearly against the background. The beads used to make them are also shown; they are Miyuki 3 mm bugle beads in silver-lined olivine, and Miyuki 15/0 seed beads in basically the same colour. There's also a 3 mm Czech firepolish bead at the top of each earring again, and, once again, it's a very good match for the rest of the beads.

I don't plan to make them all self-coloured. There will be some involving contrasts.

Well. This is really not what I was expecting. It's much better.

These are the earrings I described last night. When I actually started making them, I thought what was going to happen was a kind of triangular cascade effect; but no, they tend to stand out at angles, so you get this amazing fractal effect and I love it so much. They are quite fiddly to make, but nonetheless I'll be making some more pairs. I do, after all, have a lot of bugle beads.

A pair of delicate white earrings, made mostly from bugle beads; they are alternated with tiny seed beads, and there is a larger crystal bead just under the base of the earwire. From the top: gold earwire; small hanging loop made from seven of the tiny seed beads; crystal bead; bugle bead; seed bead; and then there are two bugle beads, each finished with a seed bead, coming out of that, then again two coming out of each of those, and so on, till you get six levels down altogether. The result looks something like a cross between a snowflake and a rather sparkly tree root.

A lovely regular icosahedron, and my hapless attempt to duplicate the shape using beads. I figured that if you strung two bugle beads end to end, the pressure would keep them straight. Wrong again, mongoose. It really doesn't, as you see here.

However! I do have a different, equally mathematical, equally fun idea involving bugle beads; and if the engineer hadn't been round today for the annual boiler check, I'd probably have had a go at putting it into practice. How do earrings involving powers of 2 sound to you?

On the right, a smaller thing made from beads which is an extremely imperfect icosahedron. There are tiny green seed beads at the vertices, and each edge is made from two gold bugle beads strung end to end. There are about two decent triangles in the whole shape; the rest have bent in various places so it looks extremely wonky.

I'm tired, so you're just getting a couple of pairs of earrings I made the other day; I'm wearing the burgundy pair at the moment. Today I tried to make an icosahedron out of bugle beads, but that didn't work very well and I have a picture to prove it didn't. It's still in the camera, though. Maybe I'll show you that tomorrow.

What I really want is a pair of d20 earrings, but I can't find any I like on Etsy. I think I'll just have to make my own.

I just made one pair again today because I was waiting for the engineer to come and service my boiler, following numerous texts and phone calls assuring me that this engineer was coming today. The engineer, in fact, did not come, which did rather throw things out a bit. However, as well as making these earrings, I've finished another baby hat, done several rounds on the latest socks, picked up my pills, and posted that slow-burn letter off to Trustpilot... whose AI has also been learning about sock-knitting and verse translation today...

The latest variation on the wreath earrings theme. Most of the beads in this pair are a rich red, highlighted with gold and a little bit of haematite grey. In particular the round glass pearls round the outside are the same red as the oval firepolish beads with which they alternate.

Only one pair today, because, would you believe it? Drama group organiser wanted me to do a *seventh* edit on the script. (Though, to be fair, it was mostly the songs... but she did want the Duchess to say "toodles!" as she left, and I thought, well, I won't argue, since it is just about within the bounds of probability that a Victorian character might have said that.)

I really want a camera that doesn't tend to blue greens and purples.

Yet another pair of those wreath-style bead earrings. This one is uncompromisingly emerald green, with gold accents and some crystal AB firepolish beads. The 4 mm pearls round the outside look a little bit bluish, but they're not - once again, that's the camera.

I wasn't going to make any more of the star earrings... but those discontinued oval beads were half price, soooo...

Ironically, the red pair is more or less what I thought I'd originally bought. The kit made a pair of gold star earrings, which I've shown you previously, but from the photos on the website I thought they were red. (I still love them.)

Two pairs of six-pointed star bead earrings. The pair on the left is basically bright red, but the six oval beads in the centre are stippled with light grey. The pair on the right is two shades of green with a little gold; most of the beads are light green, but the pairs of double-hole beads that connect the points of the star to the central ring are a metallic dark green. Both pairs hang on gold earwires from small loops made from tiny seed beads.

I was in the middle of making this pair of earrings when inspiration struck. It suddenly occurred to me that I had a perfect colour match between two completely different types and brands of beads, which resulted in one beautiful pair of earrings and one e-mail to the bead company suggesting maybe they'd like to link matching beads on their website. It would take out so much guesswork! I mean, I hadn't the slightest idea these were going to match.
