On top of everything else, I’m a licensed ham radio bug.
My call sign is K2OOI (I’m a huge Stanley Kubrick fan) but it’s actually not what it looks like.
FCC regulations dictate that the last three characters in this format have to be exactly that – characters, not numbers.
So while it *looks* like 2001, it’s actually 2ooi. Or as they say in NATO phonetics:
Kilo Two Oscar Oscar India.

i am writing some documentation for a household radio service and here are some photos and annotations about the #btech #gmrs_pro and how a group of them can not only talk to each other but message and poll location and see where your party members are in relation to you.

may find this intriguing. there is a #ham-bands version with a keypad and #APRS, too. you can unlock tx via backdoor.
here's some hax for the #Vero #VRN76 dual band HT with APRS (of all things) these also apply to the #BTECH GMRS app for the #GMRS_PRO
1. attach to your radio and go to settings and tap the "battery status" thing ten times until it says "enable factory test mode" or whatever, now you can TX on all bands
2. go to firmware update and when it says "there are no updates" tap that at least 10x and it will send you a newer firmware image
…but it won't successfully install. but the unlock is golden<3
