"Be all you can be", or if it walks, talks, and smells like a Tech-Bro insider situation - well, you know.

US Army creates new "special" Detachment 201: the Executive Innovation Corps "to recruit senior tech executives to serve part-time in the Army Reserve as senior advisors." The new "recruits" magically get the rank of Army Reserve Lt. Colonel. Read Army PR here: army.mil/article-amp/286317/ar

Apparently this is a case of Tech insiders inviting Tech insiders - "I want to wear the uniform. And I have three other guys willing to go with me.’” .... What will these new soldiers actually do? Not clear, but critics suggest this is just rich tech bros cosplaying the real thing.

The three who were killed on Sunday are part of an often overlooked part of the military that delivers supplies, maintains buildings, builds roads and does other routine work while shouldering the risk of operating in hostile territory.

Sergeant Rivers was trained as an electrician, had served in the #ArmyReserve for more than a decade and had been deployed to Iraq in 2018 during the fight against Islamic State militants, according to Army records.

The soldiers, 2 of them women, were assigned to the 718th Engineer Company… — a team of soldiers trained to deploy at short notice to build roads, landing fields & protective earthen berms for US forces.

“On behalf of the #ArmyReserve, I share in the sorrow felt by their friends, family & loved ones,” said the chief of the Army Reserve, Lt Gen Jody Daniels. “Their service & sacrifice will not be forgotten, & we are committed to supporting those left behind in the wake of this tragedy.”
