It's not even that the devices are asleep, they show up in `avahi-discover` and I can list the info about their advertised abilities. They're just not showing up in the sound UI anymore.

My work laptop (a Mac) is still showing up, even though that's asleep too. 🤷

I've got a couple of HEOS-supporting devices from Denon, which also support AirPlay. I wanted to be able to play audio from my laptop (EndeavourOS; aka Arch, BTW).

*Finding* the info was harder than setting it up: wiki.archlinux.org/title/PipeW

As soon as I followed that, my HEOS devices showed up as audio devices in the sound settings. Looks like they vanish when the devices go to sleep though, so I have to figure that out.

It’s called Big Hogan Cave in Monument Valley but I don’t know why it isn’t called Big Eagle Cave. You may or may not see the eagle right away but once it’s pointed out to you, you can’t look at anything else! (The eagle head is in profile facing left, with the small hole at the top being its eye).

Ever since I switched to #GNU #Linux in my private life, using #Windows at work gives me near-daily headaches. I have full admin rights, yet I constantly fight the system: forced updates, inconsistent behavior, sluggish UI, weird errors buried in the registry.

I used to think this was just how #computers worked. But after experiencing the #freedom and clarity of #FOSS, Windows feels more like an obstacle than a tool.

Going back feels wrong.

666 😈 for #spookysaturday episode #15

Bologna's network of porticoes covers an area of about 62km.
The longest uninterrupted one starts just outside Porta Saragozza and leads up to San Luca - this portico is 3.8km long and is the longest in the world! It also contains 666 arches (there are actually 658 because some of them don't get counted as proper arches but I'm not an arch-eologist), which is symbolically important and is often associated with the devil.
Supposedly this number and the serpentine nature of the path as you lead up to San Luca is ment to represent the Virgin Mary conquering the serpent, the devil.
Another interesting thing is you're not supposed to go up with your partner if you're not married because that will mean that you are going to break up.
✨Top tip - break up at the bottom and get back together on the way home. ✨

@rachel The point of #NixOS is to #bootsrap and #customize things. So that ur #configurations become #portable and works on everyone's #machine. In this sense #Bazzite, #SteamOS all can just do their own configurations, kernels etc in the Nix way. So comparing NixOS with Bazzite or anything else is not the right way.
For example, u can produce Bazzite, #Arch whatever with #Nix. Because NixOS is just a #declarative configuration by using #Nix.
