I take a lot of photos, but these days, only with my iPhone. It wasn’t too long ago that I had two cameras: my iPhone for quick low-quality snaps, and the popular camera of the moment for more composed and higher-quality photos.

Now, the iPhone’s camera is just as good as the best camera I had, and I found my attitude towards photos with it shifting. The more composed and higher-quality shots are now with my iPhone, but I found myself missing a lot of opportunities for quick snaps of things I liked just because I didn’t want to spend the time to line them up just right.

That’s where Mood.Camera comes in. It’s an outstanding film emulation app with a very straightforward design philosophy that reminds me of old film cameras: You can’t see the preview with your selected film emulation, and you can’t edit your photos in the app. What’s done is done; you keep what you like and you throw out the rest. It really reminds me of my youth, when I’d buy the latest cheap drugstore camera and fill it with the cheapest Kodak film they had.

Having a camera that is purposefully not as sharp, albeit cool, lets me relax and not worry too much about composition, and I’ve been having a lot of fun with that. If something catches my eye, I’ll snap it in Mood.Camera. I’ll check the photos later, and if they’re decent, I’ll keep them. I suppose, in a way, it ties into Noticing Things. And, of course, if I see something amazing, I’ll still get out the iPhone’s main camera app and line it up just right.

@kuketzblog Was meine #apps angeht, hab ich letztens in einem 2-Teiler eine Auflistung gepostet, was ist nutze. 40 an der Zahl, davon 13 nicht deinstallierbar. Darunter die Einstellungen, F-Droid und die Uhr 😂.

Ich werde am Wochenende mal mein #ShiftOSLight mit #mitmproxy checken, wie sich das System selbst verhält. Bei einer Stichprobe habe ich bisher nichts bedenkliches festgestellt, hinsichtlich Datenübermittlung. Wie es mit Sicherheit und insbesondere der Updates aussieht, muss ich schauen.

Can we bring distinct title bars back to desktop applications?

I don’t even care if you wanna hide the menu under a hamburger, I just want a title bar I can drag around and and resize. Something that clearly shows focus and keeps an app and all its bullshit contained within a clearly defined border.

What an interesting update! Spent more time in Logic Pro than Xcode since it was primarily about adding new sounds 🎧
(Although there's also a bit of UI polish and bug fixes 🤓)
