Once home to a successful professor of medicine. The rectangular central hall is four storeys tall, with balconies and ornate golden plasterwork and decorative mouldings.

More #ArtDeco vibes! The catchily named "Industrial Dancefloor" was once a powerhouse for an old German factory that made everything from bicycles and typewriters to cars and aircraft engines. The factory has stood abandoned and empty since the 1990s.

⚡🏭🌊Centrale Idroelettrica is a former hydroelectric power station in Italy. It was built in the early 1900’s, in a utilitarian variation of Art Deco architecture which was popular for large industrial complexes of the time.

The powerplant was severely damaged during World War Two bomb raids, with restoration work only occuring in 1960’s. It finally ceased electricity production in the 1970’s, and now much of the site lays in ruins.

À l'extérieur de Keflavík, en direction de Garður, se trouve un projet d'usine d'aluminium laissé à l'abandon depuis près de 15 ans. Motif ? Le système électrique du secteur était insuffisant pour le faire tourner à plein régime. :akko_derp:

Néanmoins, le projet a été réactivé en fin d'année passée et il y a du travail entre restaurer les infrastructures métalliques qui ont souffert des aléas climatiques, finir ce qui a été inachevé et compléter le reste.

La nature a au moins tenté de squatter les lieux comme elle le pouvait.

Une gigantesque allée centrale de plusieurs centaines de mètre. Le sol en béton est recouvert à droite d'une couche de mousse végétale. Les parties médiane et à gauche sont mouillées puisque la toiture est largement ouverte en son milieu. Les murs, constitués de piliers en bétons avec une charpente métallique et des panneaux de tôles, sont ouverts sur le bas. Au premier plan, des planches laissées à l'abandon sur lesquelles s'est constituée une petite végétation.
Plan rapproché de la végétation (plantes et mousses) qui a poussé aussi bien sur le bois des planches que le sol en béton.
Une entrée de l'usine qui mène directement à une grosse montagne de sable. La façade est constituée de panneaux en tôle gris clair. Le sommet est inachevé. Les portes de l'entrée n'existent pas.

Abandoned early 20th century social & entertainment venue, Italy⁠ 🇮🇹

The #architecture style is Stile Liberty; the Italy variation of #ArtNouveau which was popular in the 1890s until around 1914. The building hosted conferences and exhibitions, as well as a casino.⁠

The venue remained an important social hub well into the 1960s. It was also used as a school, before falling numbers forced closure.
